If Alex was wearing a blue-tarp rain coat and standing outside the window of the storage shed when Paul was shot, that explains the absence of blood evidence on his t-shirt.

This so hurts my heart -- AM disguised in the dark, protecting himself from any self-incriminating evidence. It was not raining at the time -- no reason to expect AM donned in a large raincoat on a warm, muggy, summer evening. :(

ETA: Ref pgs 45-46 Def Motion for sanctions

Provides small shot likely breaks window pane located in feed room when the shooter is standing outside of door, approx midline of the feed room (wound #1); and unlikely the shooter standing with weapon shouldered (wound #2).

In the 63-page motion for sanctions provided to Law&Crime by Murdaugh’s legal team, the defense is asking a judge to prohibit the state from offering testimony regarding blood spatter by Tom Bevel, a former Oklahoma police officer who owns and operates a self-described forensic education and consulting company.

[..]

The motion claims that Bevel’s opinion in this regard was based on an “at-home ‘science fair’ experiment” that was conducted in the former police officer’s “garage or kitchen or wherever.”

The motion also suggests that when the state’s lead attorney in the case, Creighton Waters, learned of Bevel’s alleged non-laboratory tests, he was “embarrassed.”

Those alleged at-home tests, the defense motion says, would not stand up to scientific scrutiny and would likely result in Bevel being eliminated as an expert witness. Hearings on potential experts are typically mandatory so that both sides can establish and challenge credentials.

“Bevel is a retired Oklahoma City police officer with no credentials in any scientific discipline,” the filing says.

The filing also argues that Waters is aware the state’s first blood spatter witness is unlikely to be able to testify and that the prosecutor is now trying to “sneak” Bevel’s report in through a member of law enforcement “as a back door.”

“The court should not allow this,” the motion says.

Waters did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

I’m totally confused.

Why did M arrive at Moselle so late if the purpose was to visit her dying F-in-L in a hospital? Even if she thought he was in a local hospital, the timing seems strange to me. Especially if she was telling friends that A. was ‘up to something.’

Time between arrival, ingesting food, and heading to the kennels reveals no cosy family dinner. She is almost immediately down at the kennels.

Is A contending that he was asleep when she arrived? Sometimes I wonder if there was one more victim than he intended. I used to think Paul was collateral damage, but A did not want to reveal his finances in P’s civil trial. Did he go down to the kennel to kill P not knowing M had arrived? She appears, takes off, and he has to kill her too.

Something is just off in these scenarios. I doubt we will ever know the truth…because only the chaotic mind of the killer contains his real plans.
I think the electronics...the phones (victims, AM, friends), the cars (the ones found at Moselle and not), cameras and even trail cams)...will tell MM & PM's story as well as AM's. AJMO

Ok...this just sent me numb. I've had to read this a dozen or so times to wrap my head around it. I am so sick to my stomach.

The court ordered mediation in the wrongful death lawsuit failed on June 4, 2021, meaning the case was headed to trial.

It was just three days later that Paul and his mother Maggie were found shot to death at their family hunting lodge.

According to WCBD, Seckinger said Wednesday that on the morning of June 7, 2021, she confronted Murdaugh about missing funds from client disbursements and settlements. But the conversation was cut short once Murdaugh got a call from his brother indicating that their father was in hospice, the witness said.

Another thought, I haven’t heard yet what was found or who said what to reopen the Stephen Smith death investigation.

⊳A rain coat covered with gunshot residue found at Murdaugh's parents' home, and a witness who saw him put it there.

Did he use the raincoat to shield/hide the gun? Could have slipped the barrel down a sleeve and used the rest to shield his body as another poster suggested.

Yeah that’s been an enduring mystery of this insane saga … when the Smith allegations started to come out, that was when this story went off the rails!!

I do wonder if there was anything to reopening that investigation beyond the tongue-wagging we all heard…….IMO there was so much fevered talk bubbling up all at once, there may even have been nothing real there.

Or else that’s just my wishful thinking cuz I really want to believe Stephen was killed in an accident that happened so fast he had no chance to experience fear, dread or even pain….. does that make me sound like a naive fool? :(

At least for all the stories of terrible behavior by murdaughs, there doesn’t seem to be near as many re Buster. so maybe there’s a possibility the Smith allegations are baseless….

Happy Monday, we get to start the trial week off with Dick cross examining the State's last witness. Thank goodness it's early in the morning, maybe Dick has had plenty of sleep and coffee and will actually perform a reasonable, non-rambling, semi-conscious cross.

I wonder when Griffin will be up to bat? Perhaps he'll be handling the more technical witnesses?

It's going to be a long week.

Just went back to watch opening statements as I missed the first day of trial .. I'm rather disturbed at a comment made by DH when talking about AM buying two black out guns for each of his sons .. he points to Buster and says that AM bought one gun for Paul and the other for his son, Buster who is sitting in the "audience" seriously .. like this is a movie instead of a murder trial.
Yes, good catch and his words of "butcher" speaks volumes too. imo
