SC - Pickens County Double Homicide shooting, Aug 2021

This case being a double homicide, I figured it was strong enough for a thread. Both local media foxcarolina.com and wspa.com are reporting that LE was called just before 1AM to a shooting on Edwards Lane to find 25 year old Alex Moore, Of Clemson, and 24 year old Skylar Cary, Of Columbia, dead from gunshots just feet from the road.
Investigation started at 12:57 AM this morning.

It’s not clear yet if LE was called because of the shooting or if someone found the victims and called. The report says “responded to a shooting” so I wonder if one of the victims made the call?

Edwards lane only has a few homes showing on the map image. I noticed one report said they were “ found just feet from the road” and another said “just feet from the driveway”. I don’t know if the victims had a connection to anybody who lived in the area or not. It’s a small, off the path type of road.

Just searching around and found a murder arrest report on wspa.com from this same area and in 2019, an Alex Mitchell Moore was arrested on murder charges. I’m digging now to see if this is the victim named here.

The age matches up in the old report that I found but I can’t tell if it’s the same person for sure from the mugshot and a current go fund listing with a photo. The 2019 incident was the murder of one person in Anderson county. I guess we will have to wait on more info to be released.

Checking for updates, I fear that without a quick arrest, this will be another one on the shelf.

Thanks and I certainly agree, not much to go on. I keep hoping for an update but we are under bad weather warnings in this area today so I don’t expect them to do a press conf.

I knew Alex. And yes, that was him from the 2019 Murder charge mugshot you found online that you mentioned in the above comments. He was actually proven innocent just a few months ago and was released and able to come home to his family. He was doing really good and actually staying out of trouble, so this news is not only devastating but very unexpected. I can't imagine what could have lead to such events. Rest in peace Lex!

Thank you very much. I couldn’t tell if that was the same person in the pics I seen. I’m left to wonder if this could be related to the 2019 case in some way? Some kind of misguided revenge or such. I do hope they find out something soon.

At the end of the foxcarolina report, it says that chief deputy Chad Brooks stated that they have developed a person of interest in this case. I’m still trying to figure if someone reported the shooting or finding the victims near the road. It reads more like someone maybe drove by and seen them.

I’m glad they are saying something and now we know there were witnesses. We should know something soon.

The last I’ve heard on this was that there could have been a self defense factor. I’ve found no other reports.

That area in general is pretty closed with info. I recall the case over in Oconee when the guy who was busted growing pot across the state line was murdered and the man who killed him went inside the house and died without reported trauma. The finally, in a low key way, told that it was murder/suicide. Both were older gentlemen and it was hard to picture one being violent but that was the case.
