Police: Woman goes missing after dropping child off at daycare

Investigators are now searching for a missing 24-year-old woman, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Porscha LeAnn Hardy was reported missing Saturday, Dec. 15 after she dropped her child off at a local daycare center, according to police.

Hardy’s relatives tell officers that being away from home is unusual behavior and they’re concerned for her well-being and safety.

Hardy’s relatives tell CPD officers that being away from home is unusual behavior and they are concerned for her well-being and safety.

Hardy is described as a black female with black/brown shoulder length hair, is approximately 5’11” and weighs roughly 180 pounds. No clothing description is available.

She has arrests for both drug and weapon charges (illegal possession in vehicle) in her teens, tried as an adult. (SC Newberry County Summary Dockets). Boyfriend/father of the kids in a gang? Something else? I wish we had more information.

It's odd that police only "strongly urge" her to contact her family. From her Facebook page, it appears she has three young children including an infant -- who is caring for them, I wonder? I hope they will be safe and well-cared for.

Wow, that's an unexpected twist! What was she thinking? ETA: Judging from her criminal history noted above for drug possession and weapons charges, this isn't so surprising after all. I'm guessing she is an addict and was desperate for cash to feed her addiction.

I feel so sorry for her children. If she is an addict, I hope the kids weren't exposed to drugs or alcohol during her pregnancies.
