LIVE: Update on death of USC student Samantha Josephson by Columbia Police

At present, It's still unclear how she died, or who may be responsible for her death, and if an arrest has been made.

Josephson, a senior political science major from New Jersey, was last seen by friends between 1:30 and 2 a.m. Friday morning at The Bird Dog at 715 Harden Street in Five Points. She never returned to her downtown residence and repeated calls went unanswered. That's when her friends contacted police, according to a report.

Josephson was seen on surveillance video getting into a dark-colored car, possibly a newer model Chevy Impala, around 2 a.m. News19 is aware of a viral video of surveillance that claims to show the young woman get in the vehicle. However, at this time, we have been unable to authenticate that it shows the night in question or Josephson.

Nathaniel Rowland Arrested in Death of Samantha Josephson | Heavy.com

Nathaniel David Rowland has been arrested in relation to the murder of Samantha Josephson in Columbia, South Carolina, on March 29. He was driving a black Chevy Impala. Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook said that Josephson’s blood was found in the Impala as well as her cell phone.

Chief Skip Holbrook told the media on March 30 Josephson’s body was found at 3:45 a.m. in a wooded area in Claredon County, South Carolina. The investigation is being considered a homicide investigation. The chief said that Josephson’s body was discovered in a “very rural” part of Claredon County by hunters.

Rowland had the child safety locks on the back of the car, making escape from the car impossible.
