Yes, no cross makes trials zoom along. I’m thankful they didn’t try to pin it on her boyfriend.
Thankful too. Defense was wise not to create suspicion on SJ's boyfriend.

Missed the opening. Catching it now on YouTube.

At least for now!
I thought it was kinda amazing how quickly and how involved her friends were in trying to find her once they realized something was wrong.
That was impressive, wasn't it? Her friends organized their own investigation.

I thought the Real Uber Driver's testimony was good. It seems that Samantha had already been picked up and kidnapped by Nathaniel Rowland before Real Uber arrived.

Nathaniel Rowland Trial: His DNA not found on Samantha Josephson, but someone else’s was, defense says (wistv.com)
[...]

There are 10 women and six men seated on the jury.

Of those, eight people are Black, two people are Hispanic, one person is Indian and five people are white.

[...]

THE STATE’S OPENING REMARKS

[...]

The prosecutor said Rowland traveled to the Rosewood community first.

[...]

Gipson went on to say evidence would show someone using Josephson’s Wells Fargo card. He said there were nine attempts that were unsuccessful. He also said there is evidence Rowland tried to sell Josephson’s cell phone.

The solicitor told the jury that witnesses will talk about Josephson’s bloody clothes behind “Maria’s” home, to which Rowland had access. He said “Maria” would testify that she saw Rowland with the knife that was used to kill Josephson.

Gipson said there were 100 different stab wounds across the college student’s body.

[...]

OPENING STATEMENT FROM THE DEFENSE

[...]

Goode said two South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) agents came to the crime scene and collected evidence, including cigarette butts, wounds on Josephson’s body, bite marks, and fingernails which were ripped and torn.

The defense attorney said agents swabbed Josephson’s mouth, as well, and out of all that evidence there wasn’t one piece of Rowland’s DNA.

She said it wasn’t his DNA, but there was someone else’s DNA.

[...]

SAMANTHA’S BOYFRIEND TESTIFIES

[...]

... She called him throughout the night, he said, and when she left the bar he was tracking her to make sure she made it home safely.

The tracking stopped on Montgomery Avenue in Rosewood, he recalled.

He tried calling her, but she didn’t answer. He said he went to sleep thinking she left her phone in an Uber.

[...]

SAMANTHA’S ROOMMATE TAKES THE STAND

[...]

She testified that she thought Josephson left her phone in an Uber, so she went home and went to sleep.

THE ACTUAL UBER DRIVER

[...]

He said he arrived at the pick up spot given to him on the Uber app, but he did not see her. He tried to call her, but she did not answer, he testified.

[...]

The driver said he voluntarily gave a DNA sample on the day that Josephson disappeared.

OTHER WITNESSES

[...]

A man who worked security for Bird Dog also took the witness stand Tuesday.

He said he compiled the security footage of the outside of the bar from the night Josephson disappeared. Some of that was played in court.

[...]

Gipson also said there were witnesses who found Rowland's bloody clothes in a dumpster and saw Rowland cleaning the "peculiar looking knife blade tool" that prosecutors said served as the murder weapon.

Gipson, who didn't address any potential motives for the crime, discussed video evidence showing Rowland attempting to use the victim's debit card and trying to sell her cellphone. Investigators later found Josephson's blood and cellphone in Rowland's car, along with bleach, window cleaner and cleaning wipes.

#FakeUberMurderTrial - Victim's boyfriend on the stand. The last time he spoke to #SamanthaJoseph was at 2:04 am. She had called an Uber. They had their locations shared with each other so he could track her and make sure she got home ok.@LawCrimeNetwork

#FakeUberMurderTrial - Corbishley noticed Samantha's phone was going in the opposite direction as her home. He texted her, no response, no answer to his call. His text never showed "read". He tried contacting her via snapchat, no response.
@LawCrimeNetwork
I cannot imagine how scary it must have been for Sami's bf to see her heading in the opposite direction of home and not being able to get ahold of her. Poor guy.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I can imagine your brain just doesn't want to immediately go to "danger, danger" mode until nobody is answering the phone. I do like the pace of this trial and that the defense doesn't ask unnecessary questions of witnesses just to show they are doing something.

Rowland was scheduled to pick up a friend later that morning for work, and the friend noted blood in Rowland’s car, Gipson said.

Bloody clothes and cleaning products were found in a large garbage bin behind the home of the friend Rowland planned to pick up for work, Gipson said A blade found in the same trash was consistent with Josephson’s wounds, the prosecutor said.

Rowland on trial: The Samantha Josephson murder
Wednesday, July 21, 2021

The first person called to testify in the case was the turkey hunter who found Josephson's body.

A Dept. of Natural Resources officer, who lives across the road from the Rowland family, also testified about the day the body was found. He said the father of one of the turkey-hunters called him and asked him to drive to their location because the hunters did not want to get too close to the body.

Could someone explain a legal issue with this case? The defense wanted to exclude the body cam footage during the stop of Roland's vehicle. A legal commentator on the case said the police officer who stopped Rowland's vehicle did so without probable cause. But, the judge allowed it despite the Fourth Amendment violation. How did the police officer not have probable cause? He had received a BOLO alert for a late model black Chevrolet Impala, which is what Roland is driving. Call me confused about this.
