SC - Susan Smith engaging in phone sex with sugar daddies in anticipation of parole - July 2, 2024

Glad to hear this. They made the right call here (which rarely happens). I'm actually pleasantly surprised at this, because there did seem to be a chance that she would get parole.

Good riddance - you evil, malicious beyotch.

I watched the hearing and went right back to 1994 when this happened. I am glad she was denied, IMO she has no remorse. I did NOT know that her wedding dress and wedding album were in the car with the boys. Or that the sweatshirt she was wearing was a gift from her boyfriend.

JMO, IMO, and all other disclaimers.

I did not realize she put her wedding dress/album in the car. Sounds like she was trying to erase that last three years of her life. I remember when this happened, too. It was horrific to read about in the newspaper. What she did to her own children should require a sentence of life without parole.

I'm in SC and have family that was living in Union at the time. I remember the case so well because the boys were found on the day of my wedding rehearsal. I'm glad it she was denied. She doesn't deserve to ever get out. I imagine they will let her out one day, but not today.
I dont think she will ever be released. it was an interesting question posed by the media after it was announced she was denied because of: the nature and seriousness of the crime and institutional record unfavorable. they were in essence asking, well, if she stays good for 2 years that could eliminate that reason, but the nature and seriousness of the crime, can they deny based on that reason again? of course it was explained the board can base their decision on that again....or not. IMO, that basis for denial on that will carry over to each parole hearing.

So happy to read that Susan Smith will not be paroled and I agree with everyone here who felt transported back in time to this most tragic case. Those precious little boys would have been gladly and lovingly taken in by her ex, the boys father. But she would not do that, perhaps to get out of child support or because of whatever ridiculous reason. I would only agree to parole if she could bring the boys back and that can never happen. The boys were in their most vulnerable state and strapped into their car seats, betrayed by their own mother. What a horrible death for them. Unbelievable that she would even have the gall to petition for parole, a total lack of remorse IMO.

looks like ole Susan will have a couple more years to engage in her sugar daddy calls before she has to worry about who's going to take care of her on release.

Glad her parole was denied. That is just IMO

I only heard about the wedding dress and wedding album today. I don't ever remember hearing about it before today.

It is terrible that David, his wife, his daughter, and the rest of the family must go through this every two years. If Susan had any remorse, she would just ask that all future parole hearings not be held and that she doesn't want parole. Sort of like Andrea Yates has done (although I think Andrea is truly remorseful and understands exactly what she did).

Boy did that hearing catapult me back in time like it was yesterday. Sweet David Smith...he deserves the world. As far whatsherface Susan, her crying sounds exactly the same as it did 30 years ago when she was pleading for her babies. It sounds to me like she has borderline personality disorder. Not to stigmatise that but the desperate action of killing her kids to keep from being rejected, the apparent multiple "suicide" attempts. The histrionics, the rule breaking....

She needs to stay in prison forever.

I just posted the same thing. It's like it was yesterday.

Jesus has forgiven her and she wants the Board to show her the same mercy.

Board cuts off the Pastor -- we are not talking about the trial. She was convicted of two counts of murder. We're here to determine if she's a good candidate for parole.

I feel for these parole boards. Sob stories and sorries all day long.

Please leave her where she is.

JMO
This infuriates me. The fact that people like this think they can do anything and if they believe hard enough God will forgive them without any retribution. And therefore we should as well.

Personally, I find it reprehensible to say "God has forgiven me". Lady, you do not know that. If there is a god, only that god knows whether or not you deserve forgiveness. You do not speak for the divine!

Not only did she kill her own defenseless children in cold blood for the most disgustingly selfish (and stupid) of motivations, she was also willing to throw any and all innocent black men under the bus as well. She is foul and she has no shame.

Given that her former husband would clearly have happily had full custody of those kids, I bet not paying child support had a lot to do with her motivation. Disgusting. JMO

An animal lover to boot.

Some of the worst of the worst loved animals too.

She just didn’t have the same love for her children.

She should never see the light of day.

MOO
Right. Its a cliche but Hitler loved animals. I don't think it means much in terms of how well you treat humans, and it doesn't automatically make you a virtuous person.

Thank goodness she did not get parole- too bad she will be eligible every two years so her poor ex husband David, has to trek up there every two years. There is something wrong with a system that requires the victims to have to re-experience the hell they lived through-- every two years.

That she put her wedding dress and album in the car was the least of her issues. I remember hearing about it after the car was recovered.

I, too am glad she's not being paroled.

From day one my heart has hurt for him, and I remember how she couldn’t make eye contact with the camera when talking. Seemed like she was hiding something.

Glad parole was denied.

The horror those little boys suffered. So sad.

Snipped.

I think she didn't want visitation. She wanted those boys gone, period.

Such a sad case. May she remain behind bars forever.

Personally, my son was born in 1993. And he has lived a wonderful, exciting life. He has added so much joy to my life and the lives of others.

Susan Smith denied herself of so much. As much as she denied her children the right to live their lives. I wonder if she realizes how much she denied herself. She could have just dropped off the boys at their Dad's house, and left. Zero drama.
I don't think SS ever really spent one moment thinking in remorse about those boys even today, she's a soulless child murderer who got rid of what she thought were obstacles to HER happiness. I feel gutted for ex husband. :(

I feel like if she had even an ounce of remorse, she wouldnt be asking to be released.

Andrea Yates has refused to go in front of a parole board, which i think is a true testament to her character. Andrea Yates is a real victim of psychosis, who recognizes she should never be free.

SS is a vapid narcissist who has little to no remorse for killing her kids

Psychosis is a real thing. Using it as an excuse to murder both your kids, so you can get with a new dude is disgusting.

I was not aware she put her wedding gown in that car along with her poor innocent children. That tells you she was done with her past- which for her, included her marriage and her children, so she could start over with the man who told her he did not want children. I pray she never ever ever gets parole-- ever.
