Police say they’ve found a baby they believe the NMB mother threw in the trash this month

One of the babies allegedly thrown in the trash by a North Myrtle Beach woman was found this week at the mother’s home, police said.

The baby, which was a boy, was taken to The Medical University of South Carolina for an autopsy, according to a North Myrtle Beach police report.

Alyssa Dayvault is accused of killing two babies in the last 13 months. She was arrested Tuesday, and the police department released reports and search warrants Thursday as part of its investigation into the alleged homicides.

According to police reports, Dayvault has two children ages 6 and 8.

According to the warrants from the North Myrtle Beach Police Department, Alyssa Anne Dayvault allegedly disposed of a male newborn's body around December 2 or 3, 2018 in the area of 98 S. Oak Street in North Myrtle Beach.

She is also accused of disposing of a female newborn's body sometime between November 4-23, 2017 in the area of 1100 David Street in the City of North Myrtle Beach, according to warrants. "Police recorded a post-Miranda interview pursuant to a separate investigation, during which the defendant admitted that she birthed a newborn female child at her residence in North Myrtle Beach."

NEW DETAILS: North Myrtle Beach woman accused of killing newborns, disposing of bodies in trash

Police: North Myrtle Beach mother charged with four felonies in deaths of two newborn babies; remains found

Over the course of 13 months, a local woman threw two babies in the trash soon after they were born, according to arrest warrants.

The North Myrtle Beach Police charged Alyssa Anne Dayvault with two counts of homicide by child abuse and two counts of destruction, desecration or removal of human remains. She faces life in prison if convicted. Dayvault is being held without bond at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

According to arrest warrants, in early December Dayvault was admitted to Grand Strand Regional Hospital with heavy bleeding. She delivered the placenta, but no child. Hospital staff called the police, who spoke to Dayvault. She said she gave birth to a boy days earlier at her North Myrtle Beach residence, according to the warrants. She said the boy was born alive and took gasping breaths, the warrants state. Dayvault didn’t seek medical attention and did not try to save the baby’s life, she told the police. Dayvault disposed of the baby’s body in a waste receptacle at her residence, according to the warrants.

Oh my that is heartbreaking :(

What happened after the first baby? She wasn't found out/arrested then apparently.

Those poor little ones.

The trial of a woman accused of dumping her newborn babies in the trash in 2017 and 2018 was slated to begin Tuesday but has been delayed.

According to the 15th Circuit Solicitor's Office, Alyssa Dayvault did not show up Monday for the first day of jury selection, nor did she show up on Tuesday.

But Dayvault's absence is not why trial was delayed Tuesday. A personal matter involving one of the alternate jurors is to blame, meaning the juror pool will be reopened, and a new alternate will be selected on Wednesday. Once a new alternate is in place, the trial will proceed with opening arguments.

The judge said he is still confident the trial should wrap up by the end of the week.

Alyssa Dayvault did not show up for her trial this week on two counts of homicide by child abuse, but the case is moving forward at the Horry County courthouse with her lawyers putting on a defense.

Prosecutors on Wednesday played a recording of Dayvault's interview with police who were called after Dayvault showed up at the hospital with an infection caused when she did not deliver the placenta along with the baby boy in December 2018.

Def Team Called No Witnesses. Other Children?
@JerseyGirl Thanks for your post w link. My link* is article from Oct 15, updated Nov 5, 2020.

"Seven total witnesses were called in by the state while the defense did not call up any before resting..."

"Chris Matechen, Dayvault’s ex-boyfriend and the biological father of the two babies, was in the courtroom Thursday afternoon when the verdict was read and appeared before the judge during the sentencing phase..."

"Dayvault, who has two living children, has not been present at the trial, which started Monday morning with jury selection..."bbm
I read only a couple articles, missed the defendant's age.
Two living children? Were they born before or after the deceased babies?
Hoping they are in a loving family now.

Glad she’s in jail!! Ugh! I will never understand this. Ever.

In the pics in the link above it says “two 40 year life sentences”. So is it 40 or 80 years? Or maybe just a misprint.

"A Mistake" Ringing Hollow?
After the sentence was read.
"Dayvault asked to address the court and gave a message to her family and two living children.
“I hope that one day they’ll be able to forgive me for what I’ve done,” she said.
"Turning around with tears in her eye, Dayvault added, “I never meant to do anything. I made a horrible mistake. I would never do anything to harm anyone, especially a child.

How can she say this now? Really.
