Amid speculation Tuesday that a homicide had occurred in a quiet Lexington neighborhood, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher confirmed it early Wednesday afternoon.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the shooting death. The department has not yet announced if it has a suspect or if any arrest was pending, but it did say that it was looking for 50-year-old Vincent Shivers who lives in the home.

A missing man suspected of killing his girlfriend earlier this week in his Lexington home has been caught and detained by Canadian authorities just as he was escaping on an international flight, the Lexington Sheriff’s Department reported Friday.

Shivers, a finance director for a Columbia camping retail store, has been charged in the murder of his girlfriend, Roselynn W. Cedeno, 45, of Lexington, the sheriff’s department said.

“Investigators determined Shivers was not missing Thursday and that he had fled the country into Canada (on) Tuesday near Niagara Falls,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “U.S. Marshals, the Toronto Police Fugitive Squad, and the Canada Border Services Agency collaborated to take Shivers into custody shortly before his flight was due to take off. These federal and international partners provided us with invaluable assistance on this case.”
