Alison Fox, from Alloa, went walking in the hills behind Menstrie during the afternoon of Thursday 1st March and got lost on her journey. Alison is described as being white, 5ft 2ins tall with a slim build, short red hair, freckles across her face and thick glasses. She speaks with an English accent and is a keen runner and hillwalker.

She's been out there for more than 24 hours. In this weather that's very dangerous.

Is there cell phone coverage in the hills, and in this weather? The articles don't mention whether she had her phone with her and if they were able to ping it.

No idea about phone coverage as it would depend which network she uses. EE is the best for coverage of remote areas but there will certainly be areas with no coverage at all or unreliable connections. Scottish government report on phone coverage:

Looking at the above I think the Ochils are in a blue area (reliable connection) but possibly bordering a purple one (unreliable connection).

I don't know if the weather could affect reception. Maybe if cell towers locally were damaged.

I hope she is found safe and well in a shelter somewhere but this is just crazy.

There was a Red Alert for snow in that part of Scotland, for the first time ever.
