The way that was quoted in the written article was SOO misleading. (IMO anyway) It wasn't much easier to understand even when listening to the video/audio interview. The written article almost made it sound like it was a threat being made by AH's friend. It definitely was not clear what the comment was about or who might have originally made it. ...but after listening to the video, it seems *to me* like it's more of an observation/ interpretation that AH's friend is making as to what she believes was perhaps a "statement" that the killer was trying to make in the way they killed Alicia. I may be wrong about that but that is how I interpret that comment. At first I thought it was something the friend had at one time stated about Alicia, and then I thought it might be a comment/threat the friend was attributing to Alicia's ex, but in the end, I believe it was how the friend was characterizing the act of the murder itself....like how she would describe the "statement" being made by how angry/gruesome/hateful the specific acts if the murder seemed.

It seems like in this link they know what the murder weapon was and may have possession of it.
I wonder if the black SUV was related to the people she witnessed having sex, were they responsible for her murder? Cutting her throat is a personal killing stating, 'we want you to be quiet'. Could be, the people she witnessed together didn't want any witnesses to their relations?
It is annoying that police only state 'black SUV' who was this witness? I understand that not everyone can get a year on a vehicle, but a ballpark on the year would be helpful, after all, 1990 suv is completely different looking than 2015. Also, mention of loud exhaust, the local police should be able to break this down fairly simply in my opinion.
Not sure if police checked gas station cameras, but checking gas stations by the major roads leading to the fishing area in Nebraska and South Dakota likely would have caught the suv coming and going one way or another.
The family thinks she fought for her life because she had bruises and a broken finger, they suspect that she was trying to keep her phone - another thought leading to she likely saw something that someone else did not want her to see. I agree with other poster, that they should check the water for her phone (or at least they should have checked it then) current may have taken it by now. Have they checked to see if her phone had a cloud?
I am not sure what to think about the husband, he has an 'alibi', I wonder more about the marriage though, what was the reason for divorce? Article I read stated that Alicia was upset by it and was trying to move on (thus her being out fishing etc). Was he cheating? About about his 'new wife'? Seems like he is happy in his new life that he moved on pretty quick. Did he know the new wife then?
I hope Alicia and her family get justice soon!

I don't think that it being a brutal and violent murder means it was someone she knew. I watched the trial for the murder of Mollie Tibbetts last week and we learned she was violently stabbed multiple times in her skull, chest, rib area and she did not know her killer either - it was a random, chance encounter while she was running.
I, too, find it very odd no one has come forward to say they were out there at Myron Grove that day. Especially I'm interested in the couple that were apparently having sex in a car when she pulled in. I wonder if she tried to get a photo or something or it was just obvious she noticed them, they got really angry, and it went from there. Perhaps one or both of them were having an affair (hence the odd location to have sex to begin with) and freaked out that they were seen.
It's too bad cameras weren't installed there prior to her murder. Unfortunately, if it is a stranger crime, which I feel it is, it is going to be very hard to solve unless someone is willing to come forward with some info. MOO

I wonder what they mean by “shoes you would wear in a restaurant?”
Could she have actually witnessed a sex crime, like a rape, taking place, rather than consensual sex? That could be a motive and a reason that her phone is missing. Or a consensual-sex-having couple could have thought she’d taken pictures and gotten angry.
I wonder if her texts and Snapchats indicate how long she was there before something happened.
The whole 'shoe thing intrigues me ... but I really have to wonder if the shoes even relate to this case or not. It seems absolutely natural to me to attribute the shoes to this event simply because they just dont belong there...but - as far as I know - there really hasn't been anything to solidly tie the shoes to this murder. Perhaps the shoes were just left behind by someone else that had been there at some point. I have struggled with this and don't want to sound like I'm just discounting the shoes for no reason but, unless the description of the shoes somehow tie to maybe some "known player" (aka even a very "soft" poi or "affiliate" of some sort) of Alicia's, I'm not sure that we should let the shoes distract us too long.
Also, (& more importantly in my mind) I have been MORE than a little 'hung up" on the whole discussion about whether Alicia may have interrupted someone having "adult relations" when she got there. I believe the only source we have for that comment though is a somewhat loose paraphrasing made by the friend of AH's that states that AH had snapped a text comment to her: 'It’s a great day to get it on’ was what I believe the comment was. ...or possibly something to that effect– something that *AH's friend interpreted* to mean AH had witnessed two people having sex.
Unless I missed it though, I don't believe there are any pics or any type of evidence that confirms there was anyone "having relations" anywhere there. ...so that seems to be an assumption based on one person's interpretation. It seems to me that AH only stated that "it's a great day to get it on" - & the rest is something that has been *assumed* by her friend & accepted by everyone else that has read that interpretation. That leaves me to wonder... What if AH stated that "it's a great day to get it on" as a sarcastic comment that stemmed from some stranger having approached her with some sort of crude proposition about wanting to "get it on". ...and perhaps after having given said person a bit of a "brush off", Alicia also assumed that this stranger had moved along so she took the time to make this light hearted snap to her friend. But before AH could snap more details of that interaction, that stranger came back and ... well... yeah, that's when things "played out".
Totally & completely, all MOO.
Unless her soon to be ex was a restaurant employee. ?

I just watched another crime where shoes were left at the scene of the crime and the local (small town) police disregarded the shoes (case would have been solved much quicker if they would have researched the shoes more). Shoes potentially can have a lot of DNA in the foot pads and depending on various factors; the laces and body of shoe. Most people touch their shoes to take them on/off, tie/untie, adjust etc. Not to mention the sweat into the foot pads. The shoes could be nothing or something, I think they should (if they haven't already) run for DNA to eliminate or get a suspect.
Good catch that the couple together may have not been consensual.
I still think the loud exhaust is a big clue as well. The small town should be able to figure if it was local. I lived in a small farm town and lots of people always working on their trucks. A loud exhaust would certainly be something locals will know if it is from someone within their town or not. I also used to run DMV checks & I know that the authorities can search at least within these small towns for the SUV.

The biggest similarity, except for her making a post on Snapchat about fishing, and being killed in broad daylight, being dead in 30 minutes after her last text, is how much like Libby G she looks. There is one photo taken at the wedding, where she is blonde - the same type of face and in general, same type.
It is also noteworthy that her last message was, she saw a couple being intimate - and 30 min later, she was found drowned.

I wouldn't rule out a connection, but it's speculation at this point. BG probably has other victims; we may never know whether Alicia Hummel was one of them unless her killer is caught or unless BG is caught and cleared of involvement in her case.

this post describes what happened to Alicia that day.
I have deja vu, tbh.
She wakes up. Asks her GF if he would help her clean the fish and takes off to that Grove. Posts at Snapchat.
Her last post is about seeing someone having sex, humorous.
Half an hour later, her body is found drowned. But the cause of death is blunt trauma and a deep neck wound.
They, too, said she was resisting, something about finger broken and also these shoes that the police probably dropped the ball on? (DNA? Or were they left on purpose?)
Her fishing pole was never found. Nor was her cellphone.
But to me - the victimology part. My photo of her at wedding was removed, but swear, to me she looks exactly like the German girls.
I might be wrong, of course, I am trying to understand who else he had killed.
P.S. Here is her photo. She is the same type as Libby or Kelsi. I don’t have enough photos of Lyric but maybe this is his victim type.

I hope it is OK to remember other cases, but here is what comes to mind.
What if the shoes left on the bank were sort of a signature? I immediately remembered Libby’s shoe, mentioned too often.
What if shoes in Hummel’s case did not belong to the perpetrator? Because if they did, there should be DNA isolated from them…and here, we don’t even know the size and, female or male they were.
Anyhow, we have two cases where the shoes or a shoe are mentioned.

This is interesting. The lack of info on the shoes found at the scene in Myron Grove has bugged me, because they seem totally out of place, unless they belonged to Alicia? But then they would have said that, right? Or they could have been there before she arrived...? The idea of the shoes possibly being a signature is intriguing.

Yes, I also have believed there are similarities. I have seen different pics of Lyric, and all 3 girls shared the same body type, hair color and almost the same smile, IMO. Their looks is just one of a few similarities they share.
