Public is asked for help with missing person

Pennington County, SD – Law enforcement agencies are now looking for a missing woman last seen on Monday, January 21, 2019. Family members of 56 year old Debra Jankord are concerned about her safety.

Jankord was last seen in the area of Everest Road in Pennington County on Monday about noon. She was driving a 2012 Silver Chevrolet Impala with South Dakota license plate 2P8842.

Debra Jankord is described as a white female, 5’6”, 210 pounds, last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and a bright blue coat. (Picture attached) She is known to visit various locations in Pennington County and the Northern Hills.

A family member says Jankord was going to visit a friend in Summerset but never showed up.

I used to live there. Just moved this last July. I spoke to family on Monday night and I know it was snowing and the weather was getting bad again. From what I can tell she was maybe 15-20 min from where she was at on Everest rd to get to Summerset. There are a few hills but it’s pretty flat to get there. Not like other areas that she had been too.

UPDATE: Debra Jankord was found deceased in Pennington County on Thursday, January 24. She was reported missing by concerned family members. Authorities searched for Jankord in Pennington, Meade and Lawrence Counties.

An autopsy was completed, but the results are still pending. No foul play is suspected in her death. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family members.
