David Maynard, Mary Maynard and their two children, Colton and Brantley, were vacationing in Alaska when they fell into ocean when a boat capsized.

The Coast Guard received a mayday call around 7 p.m. on Aug. 3 for a 28-foot aluminum vessel that began taking on water with eight people aboard, according to Petty Officer Shannon Kearney.

Four people were rescued by a good Samaritan vessel, “Salty Sea”, from a life raft, according to the Coast Guard. The Maynards, however, were not found that night.

Nearly 10 months after a family of four from Texas went missing in the waters of Kachemak Bay, a search has turned up human remains in the boat on the bottom of the bay.

In an update posted Wednesday, Alaska State Troopers said that three private companies banded together to search the bay earlier this month and located the 28-foot aluminum boat that capsized last August about 16 miles west of the Homer Spit.
