I would be shocked if Moore wins and there would be an Ethics hearing. Since I don't have much trust, I don't think that will happen, but I would love to be proved wrong.

There will be an ethics hearing - imo. -Franken was more than willing to submit to a hearing. He was forced out but one reason for the other resignations we are seeing is to avoid a very public congressional hearing.

If Moore wins, his troubles are just beginning.

I wish I had optimism. I think he will be elected and then I think the sentiment in Senate will be...."well, his state voted him after knowing the allegations, so if the people are okay with it, let him serve."

Sigh.

I do wonder where is the WaPo report headed? The legality of criminality and statute of limitations is key.

I do believe the reason Franken was forced to step down is to pave the way for ethics in Congress. Bipartisan women in Congress are all over this.

Plus, if Moore wins? Will he ever live this down on the national stage? His story has legs for days.

If Congress goes into sleep mode, I don't think women right now are going to just say, ok fine, no problem, either...

And I think there is a movement that is going to take accountability all the way to the top...

As it should be!

Here's the yearbook photo WaPo uses with it's articles. I find it FASCINATING how there is no difference in the ink colors.

Gosh Gardenista, are you shining some light on how the original image provided last month by CNN is 2 toned? Black ink fading into bluish? & somehow now it's all black?

I'm more amused at the non rhyming poem. If only his name were "Ray" back in the day, eh? It would have made more sense. Oh well, guess we have to wait for Allred to give it over to the professionals. Sometime, in the next few weeks.

It looks like Roy to me.

Moore Accuser Says She Wrote Part of Yearbook Inscription

GEORGIANA, Ala. — Four days before an Alabama Senate election with broad implications for American government, the narrow questions of whether Roy S. Moore wrote in a high school yearbook 40 years ago, and what it means for sexual misconduct allegations against him, once again took center stage on Friday.

Beverly Young Nelson, the woman who has accused Mr. Moore, the Republican candidate, of misconduct, acknowledged on Friday that a few of the words in her yearbook under what she said was an inscription by Mr. Moore were written by her, not him.

At a news conference with Ms. Nelson, her lawyer, Gloria Allred, released the findings of a handwriting analyst who concluded that the signature on the inscription belonged to Mr. Moore...

I would love to make a lengthy comment about this woman, but I don't want to be accused of victim-blaming. Suffice it to say that I'm skeptical about any woman who appears in the media with Gloria Allred (or her daughter, Lisa Bloom) at her side.

Well, there are two issues, I suppose. One is the accusation, which might include analyzing the ink (I find the whole thing tedious, but if you're fighting an accusation, that's what you need to do.)

The other issue is whether the people in the state want this particular candidate to represent them in the Senate or whether they don't.

Just a reminder for all of us, no matter what state, what office is up for election...GET OUT AND VOTE. Do not stay home. Seriously.

Methinks the issue here isn’t ink at all, but whether voters will overlook Moore’s well-reported and admitted proclivity toward grooming and sexualizing pubescent girls in order to support a candidate with a career history of flouting local and federal mandates and not supporting the will or wants of his constituents — the voters.

That was a long, wordy sentence.

TL;DR: Yes, everyone complaining about him now needs to vote. That’s where action is most important. Problem is, he’s repeatedly been voted in before.

I think Rebublican leadership wants Moore for the US Supreme Court. That’s why his campaign means so much to the GOP.

Then why does the race matter at all? Nobody on the current court has held to my knowledge an elected position in politics.

They want public support rallied behind him. They want the larger public to know his name. He has a military service record, he’s a former DA, circuit judge, two-time Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court.

He refused to remove a Ten Commandments statue under federal court order (and, as a result, lost his first Chief Justice job) only to be elected again and suspended a second time for ordering probate judges to enforce the same-sex marriage ban after the SCOTUS declared it unconstitutional.

He’s the far-right’s rogue warrior and a far-left supervillain. He’s the kryptonite to what conservatives feel is a too-far left-leaning Supreme Court.

MOO

This was Nov 15 - according to Moore, suits have been filed...we'll see.

I’m aware, thank you! [emoji106] I shared it because it gives some background of Moore’s attorney.

Well, I mean, you have to be nutty to defend a pedophile, right? It's one thing to advocate for a client's lawful rights because it's your job, but to actually stump for your client is another level of deviance. Everything Moore touches is dirty. Anyone defending Moore at this point obviously has skeletons and predilections of their own that they are desperately trying to legitimize.

I imagine the lawsuit will be one heck of a fight for Moore and his lawyer. The guy reminds me of Saul Gooodman: “You don't want a criminal lawyer; you want a *criminal* lawyer.” I love that line from Breaking Bad!

...and those parts are what? Adding the date and location underneath his note.

How does this have anything to do with Roy Moore molesting underage girls while in his 30's? Or making a nuisance of himself at the mall chasing underage girls, while in his 30's? Or supplying alcohol to underage girls?

There is so much wrong here and we're discussing one woman's addition of date and location in her yearbook?

Not to mention the fact that she added a date and location isn't an "alteration." This whole controversy is yet another attempt to discredit this woman. The fact that Fox had to immediately retract it's headline about it is really all that needs to be said. I read in many sources yesterday that Fox's actions and the propagation of the forgery claims are actionable if this woman would choose to sue. I doubt she will; she has enough on her plate. But to say she is now discredited because she wrote a date and a location under his name? Ridiculous. Those who say they no longer believe her never believed her to begin with.
