I was watching some of the news coverage online and was surprised to learn Senator McCain’s Mother Roberta has outlived her son and is 106. It will be a very sad and difficult time for her too along with the whole family. The condolences Senator McCain has received from Presidents, Politicians etc have all been very nice.

I just learned the sad news.

Asked last year during a CNN interview about how he hoped to be remembered, McCain said, “He served his country.” He added: “And not always right, made a lot of mistakes. Made a lot of errors. But served his country, and I hope you could add honorably.”

Yes, you served your country well, and very honorably .
John McCain was a good, decent man with integrity.
Heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

I visited Vietnam and one of the places I really wanted to see was the lake in Hanoi where his plane was shot down and the prison he was kept in.

It was a brutal story, and a confusing, strange and horrible part of our national history, yet he was so courageous he stayed with his men who were prisoners, rather than be released early to go home. I always think of the courage and inner strength it must have taken to do that. Not many men had it in them. He was tortured and suffered all the rest of his life from that.

His live in public service was remarkable, too. I think he really did try to do the right thing, although I would disagree with what he advocated. I will always remember him voting down the ACA Repeal, knowing he had cancer and knowing what it was like to need medical insurance.

I just have immense respect for this man and feel like America has lost a very important great man. I'm not sure we have any others right now that can possibly equal him.

I’m sad to say this isn’t the case on the Daily Mail Online Comment section under articles about the late Senator. Horrendous. (Thankfully we cannot discuss them here)

“I don't have a complaint. Not one. It's been quite a ride. ... I made a small place for myself in the story of America and the history of my times."

- John McCain, The Restless Wave

Brave man, in life and in death. John McCain will be missed, dearly.

George W. Bush and Barack Obama are to give eulogies. Bringing two parties together (in a sad circumstance) instead of dividing.

Thank you for your military service, Senator McCain.
