I hope those who mourn my passing, and those who don’t, will celebrate as I celebrate a happy life lived in imperfect service to a country made of ideals, whose continued success is the hope of the world. And I wish all of you great adventures, good company, and lives as lucky as mine.

So very, very sorry to know Senator McCain has died. Always admired him. Such a good and respectable, decent man. The USA and the world needs more people like him.

You more than earned your wings.
Rest in Peace, Senator McCain.

I had a friend pass away from this same aggressive brain cancer just two years ago. It did not just stay in his brain. It spread almost all through him by the time he died.
Awful, nasty disease.

I visited Vietnam and one of the places I really wanted to see was the lake in Hanoi where his plane was shot down and the prison he was kept in.

It was a brutal story, and a confusing, strange and horrible part of our national history, yet he was so courageous he stayed with his men who were prisoners, rather than be released early to go home. I always think of the courage and inner strength it must have taken to do that. Not many men had it in them. He was tortured and suffered all the rest of his life from that.

His live in public service was remarkable, too. I think he really did try to do the right thing, although I would disagree with what he advocated. I will always remember him voting down the ACA Repeal, knowing he had cancer and knowing what it was like to need medical insurance.

I just have immense respect for this man and feel like America has lost a very important great man. I'm not sure we have any others right now that can possibly equal him.

I simply want to say thank you for these words. Thank you.

He was my senator for many years. He really loved his country and dedicated his life to the good of America. His passing made me cry. RIP

I've been watching the coverage throughout the day and evening. And been moved to tears, especially when looking at Meghan. She was very close to her Dad & it hurts my heart to see the loss on her face.

I was disgusted seeing photos of Meghan grieving over her father’s coffin on the Daily Mail website it was very inappropriate and outrageous. There were even comments on there criticising Meghan for not holding it together which were beyond belief and very low.

However Senator McCain is getting a good send off and he is being shown the respect he deserves.

I was able to catch the memorials and they were well put together. Great that he was able to plan it to just what he wanted. IMO
