OKLAHOMA CITY —
Authorities are searching for an airman who has been reported missing from Tinker Air Force Base.

Senior Airman Scott Young, a member of the 964th Airborne Air Control Squadron, was reported absent without leave from his unit. He was last seen Tuesday in Oklahoma City and was reported as AWOL as of Wednesday, officials said..

"The Airman’s safety and well-being is our utmost concern as we work with base and local law enforcement to assist in locating and safely returning him to his family and squadron," Col. Geoffrey Weiss, 552nd Air Control Wing commander, said in a news release. "We have been in contact with family, co-workers, and friends since the Airman was first reported AWOL, and we remain optimistic that he is okay and hopeful we will have some answers soon to assist in these efforts.

"We strongly urge anyone who might have information regarding his whereabouts to contact law enforcement as soon as possible."

Tinker Air Force Base's Office of Special Investigations, Security Forces Squadron and Young's military chain of command are working with local law enforcement in its effort to find him. Anyone with information about Young's whereabouts is asked to call the Base Defense Operations Center at 405-734-3737.

Scott Young has been missing since last week, when he failed to show up for work at Tinker Air Force Base.

Young's family said they've been calling him for a week now and the calls keep getting disconnected. They live in California and have no immediate family in the Oklahoma City area.

Midwest City police are not indicating foul play was involved, but they're looking for a black Dodge Caliber with the license plate 'ACS269.'

Also from the article:

“Young's sister, Kristina Stearns, last spoke to her younger brother a week ago. She said she talked with her brother all night last Monday.

Stearns remembers Young stating he was enjoying his days off and would be back to the base Wednesday. That's when Tinker Air Force Base declared the airman from the 964th Airborne Air Control Squadron absent without leave when he didn't show up for work.

Stearns confirmed, through Facebook messages, Young was transitioning into a woman and sometimes went by the name ‘Skylar.’

The missing airman's mother added she hasn't heard from her son in two weeks.

‘We have no idea where he could've gone,’ she said. ‘He's a sweet kid and is spoken well of by his superiors.’” (BBM)

Is Trump’s new don’t ask don’t tell policy for trans people in the military in effect yet?

Is Trump’s new don’t ask don’t tell policy for trans people in the military in effect yet?
Barring further legal action, it’s set to take effect on April 12th.

The timing of Airman Young’s disappearance is a little concerning to me. He was last seen on Tuesday, March 26th, the same day that:
“A federal appeals court in Washington removed the last hurdle for President Donald Trump’s ban on transgender people in the military to take effect as planned on April 12, snuffing out an injunction that a judge declined to lift after the government’s Supreme Court victory.

A three-judge panel on Tuesday granted the administration’s request for a final order lifting an injunction issued by U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, following the high court’s January ruling in Trump’s favor.“ (BBM)
Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

The new policy “disqualifies from service all transgender people who require or have already undergone gender transition, and bans people with current or recent gender dysphoria diagnosis other than in rare circumstances,” but “it will allow people serving now to remain in the service.” (BBM)
House denounces Trump transgender ban

More specifically:
“On April 12, service members who have already transitioned or begun transitioning will be allowed to stay in the armed forces for the time being because they will be grandfathered in under the revised policy introduced by former Defense Secretary James Mattis in 2018.

But those who have not yet received a gender dysphoria diagnosis now have 17 days to get one if they want to retain their jobs. As The Daily Beast previously reported, several transgender service members are currently racing the clock—and overcoming logistical hurdles—to get a diagnosis in time.“ (BBM)

According to Airman Young’s sister, he was already transitioning, so I would think he would be OK, IMO.

What kind of court date? I hope she is found alive and well, the implications of this so called administration would be enough to send some to the brink of going awol, it is a betrayal of all she has ever worked towards in the military, most likely.

I agree. And I’m afraid her disappearance was prompted by the change in policy. I know if I were her, I would be devastated.

If you are reading this, Skylar, come home! You are not alone!!

I am sure that transitioning and being in the military must be extremely difficult combination. Either one, on its own, would be hard to physically and emotionally deal with. Much less doing them at the same time. Hoping for the best here and that Scott/Skylar is safe and just needed a break.
