Sentencing and beyond- Jodi Arias General Discussion #3

Yes, but what happened between 8 p.m. (when everything is fine) and 10:30 p.m. (when he's seriously pi**ed off? I guess that's my question. Judging by a text he sent Michelle L. after that, it sounds like Jodi and Travis may have had a phone conversation where Jodi admitted to some of the stuff she'd done. But I don't know . . . . It's hard to tell exactly happened.

Sorry, this is in reply to Hope4More post #1194.

The timeline is confusing because she kept leaving for CA but not going anywhere, and because he would tell her piss off and yet be texting a few hours as if nothing happened(a pattern throughout).

The killer had her first reveal convo on March 31, I think. When she said she didn't slash tires, the letter to Lisa came up, etc. and most important, she told T about fake spy Michelle.

She was supposed to leave on April 1, 2, 3, and 4. If I figured out the texts right, she must have actually left on April 5. She lies about where she is when going back, but on April 6 says she's 7 hours from Yreka.

You're right, he seems fine then the text about imaginary spy etc. And you're also right that they must have spoken on the phone after that text. She NEVER texted him back in reply.

Nothing in writing but that's when she tells him about sleeping on couch, driving in circles around his house.

The friends he talk to keep telling him - wow, that's sick. She must be really sick. He's starting to talk about what's she done- finally! and no one is telling him its OK or that she's OK. She's scary.

And I think that begins to sink in some, that and the distance, because he is definitely losing patience with her pretty regularly throughout April.

ETA- he had a houseful of friends over on the 6th from 11-1 for a Sunday brunch. Maybe he asked folks then about mysterious spy Michelle nd someone called or IM'ed later on about it?

I'll read and post more on texts later. I hope others have an easier time reading them. So frustrating and slow to get kicked off every few minutes then returned to a different page 6 plus pages further in.

Is this the computer guy that Nurmi used that could not be filmed on the stand?

I think Jodi's intimidated by emptiness. She feels she's brilliant about manipulating people: it's her raison d'être. But she can't tolerate nothing. When TA didn't return her texts, she must have been seething, since she'd be left in a world of nothingness. In a very obscure way, I believe she really was afraid of there being nothing out there and running out of gas on her trip to Mesa and SLC. She normally might have been propelled towards truck stops, but on that trip that was not going to be an option (security cameras everywhere). Same thing with casinos.

I don't believe she pulled over and slept, either. Since she couldn't risk sleeping where there were other people (i.e. cameras), she certainly wasn't going to sleep in nothingness.

I can't even picture her getting out of the car at night in the middle of the desert to bury weapons or even just to pee.* I can't picture her stopping at a remote campground to get "freshened" up (my method): she'd be afraid of the stars all by herself.

I don't recall the timeline for getting to SLC... If there was time for a nap and a shower, IMO she was at someone's pad. She's a person who depends on others to offer these kinds of services.

*Jail was probably the first time she'd ever peed that was not in a restroom/bathroom of some sort. :jail:

Does anyone remember when Jodi turned her cellphone outside Kingman? As in how many hours since she murdered Travis.

"About 6 hours after killing him, Jodi Arias calls Travis Alexander's phone and leaves him an eerie voicemail message. It was no doubt a calculated move to make it seem she was nowhere near the crime scene - she makes certain that she is almost out of Arizona before she even dares turning her cell phone back on, knowing that her phone's location could be triangulated (the same reason she turns her phone off when entering Arizona & keeping it off while visiting Travis). She makes the call when she is near the Arizona-Nevada border. Cell phone records show that she was 45 miles north of Kingman, which is about 27 miles south of the border, and 250 miles away from Mesa, about a 4 hour drive from Travis' home. Conveniently for her, that is the time she claims she found her phone charger."

June 4, 2008 (the day of the murder):

[11:37 pm]: Jodi calls Travis, forwarded to voicemail (31 sec) - This call was made after she killed him
[11:48 pm]: Jodi calls Travis (169 sec or just under 3 min) - leaves voicemail message
[11:53 pm]: Jodi calls Travis (961 sec or 16 min) - Jodi listens to Travis' voice messages, including her own

You're right: she had to have done something between Kingman and WJ, 'cos there's too much time in there. And your figures are conservative.

I don't think she tossed the weapons and other stuff over the dam. Waaaay too risky. Dams have cameras everywhere because they are easy terrorist targets. Not only that, guards are going to be actively looking at the cameras 24/7. Tossing something overboard has the potential for looking like a bomb and/or some other form of terrorist activity. Stopping the car for any reason would bring out swarms of panda cars.

Plus, water levels upstream are raised and lowered at a dam: the weapons could easily show up when the water level was lowered. Plus, if she threw them downstream, they'd be carried somewhere in the rush of water, and there'd be no predicting where. And there was DNA all over this stuff.

I don't think she could have gone across the dam at all, because LE would have been able to see her car on video: they did not have a huge large span of time to look at. This task could easily be assigned to an intern, no one special. LE has to do this kind of research all the time. I'll bet this was one of the first things they did, before the EF interrogation, because it would have been an easy way of confirming Jodi was in Arizona and not where she said she was. LE/Bureau of Reclamation might even have software that'll give them all cars with a certain description in a specific period of time.

That "getting lost" story of JA's was ludicrous, 'cos she could easily have told him she was with a truck driver in Las Vegas for the hours she went missing.

While I'm on that thought.....She could have taken a shower in someone's long-haul ..... for a "favor" or two...

She tells Det. Flores that she crossed Az. twice. Once going over the dam on 93, and the second time crossing from Neveda at the upper right corner and back into Az., and into Utah on 15.

It was Sparks, Nevada.

I think she turned the wrong direction when 93 ran into 40, she turned right instead of left and that was why she was seeing signs for Flagstaff , turned around and hit 93.

She tells Det. Flores about her terrible sense of direction, and depends on her GPS too much, she then launches into how bad her direction is that she didn't realized that she'd moved that close to Travis, and he freeked out.

To us, it sounds logical that she made a wrong turn, but a liar is a liar so who knows with her? Her life was embroiled in fantasy and fiction.

Just have to add: man you people are busy! And by busy I mean opinionated. I leave for a few hours, and when I come back I'm a whole page behind.

She for sure went to Henderson on the way from Mesa to Utah? My bad for memory if so, but it seems a curious route to take to Ryan's. I've driven through northern AZ southern Utah a fair number of times and I can't understand why she would go that route unless....she didn't have gas to go the straighter north route without buying more in AZ.

ETA....still seems way out of the way to go. hmmm.

She was determined not to buy gas in the state of Arizona-i.e. buy gas in any other state, that's why the need for the gas cans. It was all part of her "I was never in Arizona" schtick(no paper trail), her first story before the Ninjas.

On April 22 (24th?) the killer texts him to ask why he didn't reply to her message to him on MySpace. He says- oh that was for me? She says- why are you asking that?

He says- because you know I never reply to you on MySpace. I use my phone instead.

She responds" "well, change it."

(That is REALLY interesting, given the posts on MySpace to her by him (supposedly) ...early May, perhaps, telling her how hot she is etc. )

So she wanted him to use MySpace instead of the phone to demonstrate pubically how hot she was??? Don't know how MySpace works, only Facebook, but I'd never post something like that, I'd put in in a private message. She wanted more ammunition on him.

April 11. Killer texts TA: " send me a photo"

Within half hour TA does, and she texts : Es too sexy. Thanks.

He is SO stressed out by her through April 8th at least. These are the only texts I've read (Dec) when he's flat out telling his friends that he is. Though not why, for the most part.

He warns her in 3 long text msgs over that time that he has had it with her games. He's worn out from them and her, and needs to focus on trying to "save his house, " build a business, and deal with PPL politics.

He says to please give him a reprieve from her madness. That bitter feelings are brewing in him. And that if she doesn't relent he's afraid he's going to seek revenge against her.

3:49 AM, April 14. Killer texts Travis- I just got a call from a restricted number. Answered out of curiousity. Caller didn't say anything. I wondered who was bored and didnt have a life enough to call like that at 3:45 in the AM. It was creepy, but mostly pathetic."
No reply from T.

Later she texts him-- LOL. Grand ma is making pancakes for dinner. He asks her about work for him first then says... good for grandma

April 22. Travis texts his killer that his house has had bad vibes, maybe because of their last big fights there.

He tells her he has fung shui'd the house with incense.

She says yah, probably from all the pollution of your thoughts and your roommates, and all the people traipsing through your house.

Travis says- probably. But it feels better already.

BBM - Yeah, her!

April 25. After midnight. Killer texts T to bring her some hot chocolate in the AM.

He says you're confusing me with your work lover. She says no. That she knows he's capable of making the hot chocolate happen for her in the morning. Tells him to just do it.

He says - uh huh (referring or not to her lover denial). Convo ends.

It seems to be a pattern all through April and May. First everything's fine, then minutes later he's furious. Or he writes her an angry text and within hours it's all over and they're good friends again.

I find myself really struggling to understand what was going on in his head. Her, I understand to a certain extent. But although he seems to be forgiving her for whatever the latest drama is, it's always boiling under the surface -- with Travis at least. And maybe it was with her, too. She must have fantasized about "making him pay" for quite a while.
