3.35" of rain since yesterday noon here in Miami OK, but no hail or "wind events." Today is the day of reckoning, tornado-wise.

Thankfully, school officials in several districts in our area have already moved prom festivities away from hotel ballrooms and public venues back to the school campuses where there are more than adequate tornado shelter areas to hold all of the kids and their guests tonight. We are now at a 9 out of a 10 possible on the danger index.

O M G I've never seen us at a 9 *faint*

It feels "weird" out. SO humid and windy. Wow.

You know, it freaks me out that they use wording like "unsurvivable, catastrophic and mass destruction" on the tornado watches lol

Yes me too!!! I understand how they're trying to get people to pay attention, but what about us folks that already watch it like a hawk? We don't have a basement or tornado shelter so those types of warnings are horrible. I am such a wimp with this stuff lol

Dang, I hate that you don't have a shelter :(

I've gathered up my purse and all of my good jewelry and put it downstairs.

It's blowing over 30 mph now. And, my husband is on the tractor, mowing *eyeroll*

Yeah I understand the need to categorize the possibilities and to make people pay attention, but I wish it was more like for hurricanes, a cat 1, cat 2 and etc.

My DD lives in a mobile home. She is moving to a different one and I have already located and pointed out a big storm drain near her home. But with the storm drain there is a risk of drowning, so I don't know which is better.

Thanks :). Today, it's ok. I'm in Tx but east of what's going on right now. When it's needed, I clear out the hallway coat closet and hope for the best! Prayers for you and everyone going through this today.

And your husband is crazy! ;p

On the Tor-Con Index, my area of OK has dropped from a 7 to a 5 in terms of chances of a tornado occurring within fifty miles of any particular NE OK spot; so now it's only a 50% chance. I know that should be good news, but as a "weather hound," somehow the disappointment at the drop in excitement-level is almost palpable.

Seriously, though, sincere prayers for those affected, or being affected, or who will be affected, by this riotous spring weather.

TORNADO WARNINGS with these 4 Supercell Thunderstorms stretching from Central Kansas southwest into Northwest Oklahoma all have VERY STRONG ROTATION AND COULD PRODUCE TORNADOES AT ANY TIME!!! IF YOU ARE IN WOODWARD COUNTY IN OKLAHOMA, BARBER, RENO AND LYONS COUNTIES IN KANSAS YOU NEED TO TAKE COVER NOW!!!
