Shannan Gilbert Found, death declared an accident. #2

But what is really far fetched is, that a killer sits on a sofa, his finger in the nose waiting twenty minutes in all peace till his intended victim is done with talking to the police and then misses the point, where she bolts out. - PB
:what:

Maybe at the time it was more important to JB to pick his nose than pay attention to SG and when she bolted, he wasn't done with his nose yet and was probably happy that SG left.

Do you have a link to where it said JB was "picking his nose on the couch" while SG was on the phone to 911?

Anyhow, JB isn't the LISK - IMO

I have been reading about Paradoxical Undressing associated with drug induced paranoia too but every time we attempt to discuss it and give it a fair consideration, someone attacks me with the "stop blaming the victim" garbage.

I am inclined to think that the investigators have been exploring this angle too. The more I read about it, the more I realize that it is not a possibility that we can easily brush aside.

I have also read about PU :) and I'm still not buying it. If her pants were found somewhere other than where her other belongings were found then... well, I suppose... MAYBE, but it's more than a stretch for me.

"stop blaming victim" garbage? You miss the point. Paradoxical undressing is caused by stresses of extreme cold. Was there a blizzard that night? In addition my concern is that there is no proof that drugs were used by anyone that night, none. So I guess that's why the PU theory is mute with me. As far as my POI's for LISK are concerned, I have several and JB, CPH, and PAK are on my C list of suspects, but I still don't believe Shannon's death was accident, if that makes sense. IMHO

Hair can provide a wealth of information.

It just takes one strand of hair, how amazing is that!!!!! Hopefully they will find hair, fiber or something from the SK. I think they will find a key piece of evidence, I hope anyway! Looking forward to tonight's 48Hours!

I hope the 48 Hrs will give more details as to where the belongings were found in relation to the pants and body.
But what I don't understand is how 48 hrs is going to break any significant info. Why wouldn't LE put on a press conference and release the info themselves. I hope it will not be just a bunch of theories from MG's Lawyer.

pB,
You are not correct in your assumption about my reason for mentioning hair [ re: cocaine].
I mentioned it in response to the poster who said there werent much remains left to test for evidence. any evidence. i have questioned if she had been drugged that night. identifying patterns would be helpful.

The 48 Hours episode this evening revealed nothing new (imo), but it seems her pants, shoes and purse were found at the same location. I hoped for more info but didn't really expect it.
At least SG's case and the GB4 are still in getting air time which has to be helpful (I hope!)

Whatever, bottom line is, nobody will with hair find out, whether SG had drugs in her system, the night, she disappeared, because it's technically impossible. And if you doubt, there were drugs in her system and want hair, you can word it as you want, it was just that, the hope to prove with hair, there were no drugs that night.

That was the worst 48 Hours eeeeevvveeeeer! Rehash plus Ray's theories. Wordings always on the edge (like "they were all prostitutes" only to go later back and say "only one of those was ever identified" but then followed "but police believes"). OMG, time for Erin to retire, she lost the grip!
:floorlaugh:
At least, Gerberth was nice. What he said was already in the older shows. He got most points pretty clearly, except for this standardized rubber stamp sexual psychopath. A sexual psychopath with a such clearly established signature isn't in his ramp up phase anymore. So he would have dropped already a lot more bodies. But the rest was nice.
Well, that was the storm in a water glass: The "bomb drop" was only rehashing old theories and more focus away from the LISK.

I know. Please join me in the other thread about the show to discuss.

Same area, it must be "same area". That was one damn big circle on that map. But amen to the thought about air time. As long as anything gets air time there, LE can't let the case go cold.

I am sorry to hear that, Peter. 48 Hours has not yet aired here (in SF) so I looked online and was delighted to see an extra short video showing a retracing of the route Shannan would have taken. After reading the many posts here, I contacted two in the Gilbert camp with that very suggestion: walk the route. See what you see. So, I am delighted that the footage of short video does exactly that: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/...&utm_campaign=Feed:+cbsnews/feed+(CBSNews.com)

The only suggestion not put into action was that they video somebody taking the route across the marsh who would be of comparable strength and stature as Shannan, and that said person remove all clothing save for a tank top and shorts. Instead we have to settle with army fatigues. Okay.

As I said, I have not watched the 48 Hours yet, but the information that you can get from the video lends credence to the likelihood that Shannan Gilbert did not run through the marsh on the morning of her disappearance.

Was this video part of the show you viewed tonight? Just curious.

1.) Ray was standing there in Army fatigues about 10 seconds longer than in the trailer.

2.) The CBS walk was much better

3.) To hunt someone of SG's statue in that marsh would only made sense if you find a test person with bipolar disorder, some weeks off the meds and drugged with the exact mix from that night. So in fact, the show didn't deliver credibility, it took, because they had to go back in the middle to correct the assumptions they made in the start, left two time gaps open and told, while standing near the water, it was impossible SG drowned. Then they had Coletti deliver a detailed description of a classic text book case of drug induced paranoia, followed by Ray saying "some think ..."
So sorry, this 48 Hours was about the most damaging thing that coudl happen to the foul-play faction. Not even I, and as we know, I'm not a nice person, would dare to exploit the case that much to ridiculousness.

Peter, I think that deep down you are, in fact, a nice person.

And, I liked the show. We have to keep in mind that most people are not wrapped up in the SG case, so a lot of rehash is perhaps necessary.

As far as the footage debunking (or not debunking) the romp-through-the-marsh scenario, can we at least now agree that Shannan Gilbert did not run through the marsh in pitch darkness, guided by the distant lights of the Robert Moses Bridge?

Peter,
At one point in time, using DNA was impossible.

Haven't we already established a zillion times that by the time her 911 call ended it was no longer pitch darkness?

Gorgeous photo!

I am not sure what we have unanimously established here. Perhaps we should take a WS poll.

In the interim, I have discovered Fieldnotes's field notes. What a joy to read. I hope he continues his blog. I hope he and Truthspider pursue careers as professional novelists after this is done and gone.

One point that Fieldnotes touches upon begs a question that perhaps somebody here can answer: Did Shannan Gilbert ever go to a drug rehabilitation facility in her life? If so, when? Where?

Thanks!!! I don't know her personal history but from that interview when CPH was relating how he had said maybe she wasnt missing but rather was in a rehab and might appear after 28 days like many do, I always wondered if maybe this is what began the whole rehab controversy.
