MsFacetious :grouphug:

That is tragic to hear about the regulations and your daughter. I am learning more about organ donation that I really can soak up right now as I've been outta the loop on this case and catching up.

For the record, we are all still donors. :seeya:
And if my daughter did qualify and a brain surgeon needed the same transplant?
I can totally understand that a brain surgeon will help more people than my child. :twocents:

Discussion about disabilities, such as Down Syndrome, and organ transplants. (Longish, but interesting.) Discusses the Sandra Jensen case (Down Syndrome woman who was initially DQ'd in the 90's for a heart/ lung transplant, but then later received one.)

We have moved from automatic exclusion, to selective inclusion.

....My childhood best friend had CF.....
When she started to go downhill she qualified for a lung transplant.
She REFUSED it because she knew it would only give her a few years.
She knew that there was someone else out there who would be able to use it more.
She died last year at 30 years old... with no criminal record or history of addiction.
I am not convinced I would have the strength to turn it down like she did. :twocents: ....
[your DD]...so I think we will be just fine. :seeya:

Facing a similar circumstance, I'd hope, I would have the strength to do likewise. IDK.

Reading your posts about your DD, other DD & family (snow-mobiling, LHOTP, & Midwest trip planning, etc.)
is always a day brightener. Sounds like a terrific fam that is more than 'just fine.'

ETA: And pix of activities! And I almost forgot the 'wall kitties.'
