An piece of molding inside my front door was discolored and after I looked further, it was wet! I had thought it was just a lot of dirt. Water is coming in the bottom of the front door somehow. It is a new door so maybe something got messed up on installation.

See! This is what happens when you clean. You find things that are problems and I was just happy before thinking it was dirt, when it isn't and probably something not good. EXCUSE #973.

I am right there with you Zuri :smile: I kept a much cleaner house when I was working AND was a single mother. Now that I have retired/SSD and have nothing but time on my hands, I have let clutter build up and up and up. There are so many things that I cannot do anymore because of neck/back problems and that in itself leads to depression. BUT there are MANY things I can do, but for some reason I just don't... Mail is my #1 downfall. I go through it, take the important things out and throw the rest on the counter to go through "later." But I never ever go through it. When my daughters fiancée DICK'S parents came over 7 months ago to get her bedroom suite, TV and other big things...I grabbed a clothes basket and just took my arm and shoved all that mail and other clutter from my counter into it. It is still hidden in the corner of my kitchen, and now the counter is full of junk and mail again. :giggle:

My sister's bedroom is a light blue and it is beautiful! She has gone with a beach theme, and I love it!
I can ask her if you want for the exact color of blue. She has it trimmed in white and added white veridical wainscoting paneling on the bottom of one wall(?) or maybe all the walls? I can't remember exactly but it looks really good. She has it decorated with seashells and starfish, and all sorts of beach items. I'm doing that too when I downsize to a condo. I don't need this big old house anymore, that's for sure!

I have swatches of Wythe Blue on my walls and it sure is a lot of blue. I am going to get samples of BM Beach Glass and Palladian Blue to see if I like those better. I am looking for a calming effect lol and I am not a neutral color person. I did repaint my Family Room BM Putnam Ivory above the chair rail and Decator Buff below, with 1/2 strength Putnam Ivory trim so it is tone on tone.

I have swatches of BM Nantucket Gray, Bassett Hall Green, Richmond Gray and BM Saybrook Sage on my kitchen walls. They are basically gray greens that vary in intensity. I am trying to continue the warmth from the Family Room and find a color that will make my beautiful cherry cabinets pop. The kitchen faces west, so I get afternoon sun and the kitchen is dark most of the day. This is an expensive undertaking as I keep going to the BM store for more $10 paint samples.

Has anyone used any of the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint? KCL had posted pics of furniture she has repainted with it and it looks awesome. I was thinking of trying it on this new island that I got. Just curious as to how you liked it if you have!

You're so sweet. :)

You are right about blues (as well as most colors), in that they can be way too intense when they're on the wall. It's usually better to go with something more subtle. I think the trick is to get a color that's light enough, yet still "warm" (not pastel). Also, the ambient light in a room is a big factor.

You previously mentioned blue for a bedroom. I'm wondering if you might like BM Iceberg or Martha Stewart's Salt Glaze as seen on this page:

Can someone tell me how to undo signatures off and add it back on? I turned it off years ago and can't figure it out! Or put up the new photo of baby Lily. TIA

My colors are not anything close to pastels. I guess it's the old hippie in me. My bathroom is the same blue as my bedroom, and I'm thinking of a change in shower curtain. Bed Bath and Beyond along with everyone else are boring. I am going back and forth in several at Madart Inc.

I like Color Blast, A Moment In Time, and Spring Blossoms. There are several that have blues and greens and I might go towards one of those.

I'm looking to see if I can find the fabric and make my own, but in the long run the material to make it would cost the same as one already made.

Click on 'Forum Actions' (located in blue bar above, below Websleuths' logo) ----> 'General Settings' ----> scroll down to 'Thread Display Options'. You should see 'Visible Post Elements' where it allows you to check or uncheck the boxes for 'Show Signatures', 'Show Avatars' and 'Show Images'.

Had a very scary experience this afternoon that I'm still upset and shook up about- my daughter was very nearly run over by a school bus, and I witnessed it, but was powerless to stop it!!! This summer she is doing Jr. Lifeguarding again and assisting with teaching swim lessons. Well, I dropped her off today right before her 1:00 shift for Swim Camp was to start at the Swim Center. There was a school bus sitting for several minutes with it's engine running blocking the driveway, so I pulled into a parking space to park. I said goodbye to my daughter and waited and watched while she crossed the parking lot- extremely short distance. Right as she dashes in front of the bus (worried about being late), the bus driver accelerates without even looking!!! Thank God she looked up in time and slammed on the brakes or my daughter would have been killed right before my eyes and I couldn't do anything about it!!! I did contact the Pool Director and he will write a letter about safety in the parking lot to the head of the program that utilizes the bus services. It wasn't even a small bus, but a full-sized long school bus, there's no way my daughter would have survived! This person shouldn't be in charge of kids if she drives like that, especially in a parking lot, and one that lots of children utilize!!!:banghead::banghead::banghead::maddening::eek::pullhair::pullhair::pullhair:

Illustrates the difference between my father & me. He always used Navajo White. I hate it! I'm much more of a Snowfall White kinda' gal.

OMG.... my heart started pounding when I read this. What an awful thing to witness but sort of glad you did, and can avert another incident that could end much worse. How did your daughter react? I was only 7 when I was nearly hit crossing a road, and stayed fearful for many years. I am so glad everyone escaped harm. :hug:

As a graphic designer with an interior design background, I work with color every day, and tho I love all colors, on a personal level, pastels are my least favorite. For some reason I find them depressing.

Zuri expressed an interest in tranquil colors, which is why I suggested the colors I did (none of which are pastels, as all have a gray base). Obviously, I like them, too. They are quite soothing.

When I was younger, I painted every room in my house audaciously bold colors. Some people loved them, but after a few years, they got old to me (and who wants to keep repainting stuff?). Now I prefer to have more neutral (yet nuanced) wall colors and let the furnishings and artwork make bold statements here and there throughout a room.

When I picked her up just now, she acted like it was no big deal- she's 14. I was hit by a car when I was 13 going to Jr. High. Recalling it is still traumatic and I blacked out a couple of times while it was happening and regained consciousness, but never those memories of the few seconds of blackout. I just hope that bus driver gets a good 🤬🤬🤬 chewing!

This is so odd... Why did he choose today - JA's birthday - to release his book? Does he think he'll curry favor with JA "haters?" After what he did in court to malign the character of TA?

I do like that so far the book has zero reviews, just these two comments on the customer forum:

Whenever I go to California, people are always warning me to respect the pedestrian right-of-way laws (as if we don't have them here as well?!). Perhaps that's why I was under the impression that CA is more vigilant in enforcing those laws than other states/municipalities. Regardless, school bus drivers should be instructed to drive in a way that is above reproach. I'm guessing that the bus driver had a heart attack moment of her own and will take her job responsibilities more seriously going forward.

Just a hunch, but I would wager that cell phone usage was involved...

Well, after I got hit in 1974, they did enact a state law about stopping for pedestrians in cross-walks. (I was hit in a cross-walk by high-school students speeding to the high school.) But today's incident occurred in a parking lot, right after she had dropped off a bunch of kids and noone was supervising the bus driver. My daughter had to cross in front of the bus because the bus was blocking the walkway to the Swim Center. I reported it as soon as I could to the Pool Director, whom I know pretty well. He is a very responsible guy. He said the bus was contracted by a program that bring kids to the Swim Center as part of their school day-care program. He will write a letter to the director of the program, so hopefully that will have some effect.
