Young man spared by Oregon shooter given 2 tasks in exchange for his life :(

"CNN) -- The killer called him "the lucky one."

For reasons he might never understand, Matthew was chosen to live by the gunman in last week's Oregon community college shooting that left nine people dead.
But the 18-year-old had to perform two tasks to save his life: deliver the gunman's message to police, and watch his classmates get shot right in front of him.
The trauma, Matthew's mother said, has been overwhelming.

"He's different," Summer Smith said. "He'll never feel the same. He'll never feel complete security again."..."

New murder trial ordered for Johnny Hincapie, convicted in fatal 1990 stabbing of Utah tourist on Manhattan subway platform

"A Manhattan judge Tuesday tossed the conviction of a man who has spent 25 years in prison in connection with an infamous stabbing death on a Midtown subway platform...
But new evidence that surfaced recently is enough to vacate Hincapie’s conviction and order a new trial, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Eduardo Padro ruled. Padro stopped short of declaring the Queens man innocent, but his decision to toss the conviction after a new witness stepped forward was Hincapie’s first step toward freedom..."

Mom Launches War Against Bestselling Book About Race, Science

"...The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, by author Rebecca Skloot, is about a poor African-American women who died of cervical cancer. While being treated at Johns Hopkins, her cells were taken without her consent and those cells, called HeLa cells, were the first to reproduce in culture. They have been responsible for some incredible medical breakthroughs, including in vitro fertilization and the polio vaccine.

But Jackie Sims, mother of four children, one of whom was assigned to read Henrietta Lacks for 10th grade at L & N STEM Academy in Knoxville, tells Yahoo Parenting she was “shocked at the graphic content in the book.” Specifically, she cites the description of Lacks finding a tumor on her cervix, caused by a sexually transmitted disease, in which she “slid a finger inside herself and rubbed it across her cervix until she found what she somehow knew she’d find: a hard lump, deep inside, as though someone had lodged a marble just to the left of the opening to her womb.”.."

I think this mother needs some psych help if she thinks the bolded words are 🤬🤬🤬🤬, IMO.
Her child is 15 FGS, not young in my book and must have had classes about the human body and it's processes.
Great book BTW (I read it a couple of years ago)

What's Behind 'Don't Wear White After Labor Day?'

"The dictum that you shouldn't wear white outfits before Memorial Day and after Labor Day has been around for a long time. And while people don't really pay it much heed these days, it keeps hanging around. So where did it come from, and does it matter anymore? .."

Has anyone tried Dr. Oz's wrinkle remedy, or know someone who did? I see this all over the internet and want to try it, but is it a scam? I have circles under my eyes.

http://healthynewsheadlines.com/Who-is-Dr-Mahmet-Oz.php?keyword=dr oz*c*e*73734725455

wouldn't do it, daisymae. JMO, but these are usually expensive scams that suck you in with free or "cheap" and then you manage to become stuck getting expensive products you don't want. If it asks for your credit card info in advance, beware! Nothing is a miracle cure, eye wrinkles and circles are a part of aging for some of us, we earned every one of them. Have you noticed all the "reviews" are only positive? Where are the ones for people the product did not help? :nono: they aren't allowed to be put on the site. Again, JMO

Have you tried searching online for home remedies to try? http://www.top10homeremedies.com/how-to/how-to-get-rid-of-dark-circles-fast.html

Thanks, Spellie - I had the same thoughts and reservations and will try your recommendation. :)

I am sure glad you peeps are here!!!!! :grouphug:

First "sketchy" moment came this morning. I'm busy boxing ex-BF's stuff, he comes in and tells me he wants to show me something on the Mossberg, ejecting shells, the safety, whatever, like WTH?
I don't need to be shown that............I'm not going to give him a reason to have a weapon in his hand.
Minor sketchy moment late yesterday afternoon.....had a friend drive me around Prescott to tie up loose ends, while I was gone, Zuri got caught up in a t-post. Ex BF didn't tell me till 8:00 last night, "Well, I couldn't call you and tell you what happened cause I didn't have a cell phone number." REALLY? Then he says she was screaming?!?!?! Come on. In 11 years, nothing EVER happened while I've been off the property and he was home, he NEVER had reason to call me, he never HAS called me, even if I did take his cell phone.......so what's with THAT? :gaah: Does he want me to feel guilty? Like I could take care of it an hour away.
Zuri had a few abrasions on her rear leg, she's ok.
Seems like I'm doing all his packing, he's either "feeling sick" or doing some non-urgent grinding on his Bronco.
I've got his cable and internet lined up for his house, got the bedroom packed up, got my truck ready to go into the shop Monday morning, got my telephone support peeps in the know, my case manager for my nuttyheadissuedelio upraised who gave a head's up to my Dr.
Just have to remember to eat the elephant one bite at a time.

Some really good laughs on the thread, and reality checks on how bad it could really be, keeps me grounded..........counting my blessings!

At least I'm not living in a cargo van, in Papago Park (in PHX, Az.), in the middle of the summer with an abusive husband......I think that was the worst time ever for me.

Love you kids!!!!!

Grrrr.......the world never ends when it's supposed to! :floorlaugh: Thought I was going to catch a break!

Great to hear from you, Bernina. Sounds like you are seriously moving forward and dealing with it in good ways! Proud of you, girl, and be kind to yourself. :loveyou:

I'm not going to quote any of your posts, as it screws up the posting here... :gaah:

On Oscar - cry me a river family... he KILLED his girlfriend, and he should only spend 6 Freakin' months in prison??!!?? :waitasec: Come on people... he is where he belongs for the time being! :jail:

The bacon ^^ what's it say - won't come up for me for some reason... :pcguru:

on Lawns - they are all golden lawns here!
flower-smiley.gif

No, no update on the Huz, at least nothing new. Probably Monday after his diagnosis at the doctor's office. I'm HOPING for some GOOD news - a simple pill will cure EVERYTHING!!
good-sigh2-smiley.gif
and I can have my Huz back! :D

I've been thinking of cutting my long hair short... but than I was thinking last night, no - if I did I wouldn't be able to "hide" my 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 if I accidental went out without my bra... But it IS a good reason not to cut it!

Do steroids make you lose your hair? The reason I ask, and daisymae - have you "heard"?? about Rafa Nadal? The reason "why" he wasn't playing for awhile back last year. The tennis news is officials found steroids in his random drug tests, and since he was such a popular player to fans, they kept this on the "down low", and told him to say he had some injuries. I ask, since I noticed he is losing his hair on top...

Anyway - logging off for the night, just wanted to see what I missed posted here today!

Bernina!! You're doing good!

:seeya: everyone!

* Orrr, if he wanted your fingerprints on the gun, a reason for you to have the weapon in your hand. But even if not, that is some scary stuff right there.

Good thing after he left the room you were in that you didn't shut the door behind him. He could have easily mistaken you for an intruder and shot through the door, and... well, we all know the rest of that story. Anyway... I hope he just moves on and leaves you alone.

It's that time of the night where WS starts to drag and the pages won't load ... so I may not be here until 1:00AM ... and don't talk about me behind my back!
