1962 - U.S. President John F. Kennedy informed the world that the Soviet Union was building secret missile bases in Cuba and that he had ordered a naval quarantine (blockade) of Cuba. He also demanded that Russian Premier Nikita S. Khrushchev remove all the missiles and their bases.

Do you remember practicing getting under your desk? Like that desk was going to save you.

Looks like rain about to hit. It's coming into the metroplex. My wind chimes are starting to sound and you can feel the outflow.

it always ticks me off when I spend my summer and fall watering my grass and we get rain ,and everyone who didn't water grass turns as green as mine.

Sprinkling some on you!

Have a blood test schedule for this Monday, while the Huz is at the Medical Clinic down the street. So killing two birds with one stone!

Okay... the nurse that came this morning while I was at the doctor's appointment was of NO help!! All she wanted to do was review his medication, which is what the doctor will be doing on Monday... did not even take his blood pressure, check his heart beat, etc. - so the Huz sent her home, and said we won't need her anymore! (Actually, Huz said he kicked her out

What kind of nurse is that?

That is NOT what I/we signed up for! Think I should "ask" someone about this? And he is getting more physical therapy here at home then he did at the care center. He's walking around with his walker and doing pretty good!
Since we have the Niner game tonight (vs. our rival the Seattle Seahawks), I picked up some Papa Murphy's pizza for dinner! YEAH! No cooking tonight! LOL!
and GO NINERS!!

Some music for y'all tonight. I miss the old days. Days when you didn't hear cussing constantly, learning the Ten Commandments didn't hurt you, and you lived the golden rule that was on the ruler handed out to you each year.

Has anyone seen our new wild child today? I think Kissy is due any day. I also wanted to tell her to check out the news about three horses up Prosper. Someone killed one and hurt the other. The one that died was for their daughter that was a special need, and it was a therapy horse for her.

Niner, typically the first visit from a home health nurse or aide is a review of meds and present/past medical history, kinda like triage or an intake type of thing. So glad he is home! I would keep the medical help, if it is covered under insurance,no matter how brief or non helpful it may seem, because sometimes it is good to have another set of eyes checking in on him and you for that matter!

I hope all the blood work and tests you both have had showed marked improvement!

Spellbound, those floaters can be so annoying! I keep swatting at the air sometimes thinking they are gnats or fruit flies or something. Does the weather make them worse? I know the prednisone does. I just wondered if changes in barometric pressure affected them. I hope you feel better soon. You have had your share of pain and annoyances. Jingles to you.

Both My internet and iPad crashed and then I couldn't reboot my iPad. I think I got caught up so far here.

Zoey, I am so sorry for your dark clouds. I call them haboobs after the storms in Arizona that popped up while we were focused on that geographic region for awhile. Pictures of them just seem to represent a swirling mess. Jingles to you too.

Zuri, glad to see you. I think of you everyday. I now drive around town with a manic grin on my face, thinking of your bestest face. How's the redo going?

I miss it, too, Pages. The days when I could understand the words and actually hear the melody. sigh....

I was wide ring about Kissy today, too. Bernina, we need a check-in please.

(what an awful thing there in Prosper. And a therapy horse, how exceedingly cruel)

I'm not sure yet, but I do think it is the seasonal change affecting me. The last week I have had a lot of sinus trouble. Thanks, Zuri.

I had all my email accounts go kaflooey Tuesday. I think I finally got it right. It all started with a message that Microsoft mail thought my account had been hacked and I had to change my passwords, then I could not get the iPad to work with the new ones. (hacked? It wouldn't let me send Instagram photos to a friend for a case we are working on together -- don't they know the difference in work and naughty stuff. :giggle: )

sigh...... it's always somethin'

17 vs 3 Seahawk (yay) however we seem to lose our leads 4th quarter this year. Your niners have a good chance however being a "12" when I say "sea" you say "hawk" :)

Niner and Dasisymae I went over and read the poll thread and found it interesting! I even left a short post.

I think it was GIGI that gave me a link to a book about dying experiences and been reading it and it's very thoughtful and makes me stop and think about my experiences. Will share some of my thoughts when I am finished reading the book. :)

Woke up with my back bothering me, took a pain pill and waiting for it take effect...I'm starting too wonder if it'd more than pulled back muscles? 5 yrs ago I had a L5 slipped disk with a small tumor on the spinal cord and had surgery. But, this does not feel like the slipped disk. hmmmm

Good to have your hubby home, Niner.... and to get that thyroid of yours checked. You always sound so cheerful, even with so much happening your way. Truly admire you, lady!

CoffeeJ, I have my chicken casserole baking now..... it looks delicious. Just my favorite kind of food, so thank you very much!!

Where has this day gone already? I have barely sat down, yet I can't see much for all my work. sighhhh

Lots of interesting reading from Y/N today! And a few good chuckles, too.

So, tell me, how did the chicken turn out? :)

Creamy Tomato Slow-Cooker Chicken

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 1 1/4 lb)
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 jar (15 oz) Alfredo sauce
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
1 box (12 oz) uncooked pasta (such as penne or mostaccioli)
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1/2 cup shredded Italian cheese blend
---------------------------------------------------

Spray 3- to 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Arrange chicken in bottom of slow cooker. Top with garlic, basil, oregano and pepper.
In separate bowl, stir together Alfredo sauce, tomatoes and tomato sauce until well combined. Pour mixture over chicken.
Cover; cook on Low heat setting 5 to 6 hours.
Ten to 15 minutes before serving time, cook pasta as directed on package. In small bowl, stir together cornstarch and water; stir into mixture in slow cooker. Increase heat setting to High; cook uncovered 5 to 10 minutes longer.
Serve chicken with pasta; top with cheese.

Irish Eggs
--------------------------------------------------
2 tablespoons butter
6 potatoes, peeled and sliced
1 onion, minced
1 green bell pepper, chopped
6 eggs, beaten
-------------------------------------------------
Directions
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium high heat. Add potatoes, (I usually peel mine and cook in the microwave for a couple of minutes before I slice them ), onion and green pepper; saute until potatoes are browned. Stir in eggs and cook until eggs are set. Serve warm.
