Lily was at my sister's and we played all afternoon. She loves hands, and she uses one little finger to touch things, and was interested in touching me on the nose. And I'm teaching her to say apple. Abble is close enough for me LOL.
We played peek a boo when she got hold of the place mat, and we played pat a cake and sang. She shakes her little head, and rocks side to side when she sings. Loli needed a grandchild years ago, and Pop couldn't be prouder, and that little girl will never want for anything. She got a guitar and a set bongo drums for Christmas. She has more then enough clothes and shoes for her and three other babies.

I need a baby. I haven't had one in a long time. Growing up there were always babies around, and I was the one they brought a crying baby to. A young couple moved across the street from us , had their little boy and came over crying because he wouldn't stop crying, so I go and the little guy was not happy. So, I told new mama and dad to get me a bowl of warm water and a washcloth and I gave him a quick bath then rubbed Baby Magic from head to toe and he was calming down some and by the time I got him diapered and swaddled, he ready to be rocked and have a bottle and take a nap, and new mom and dad took a nap.

Do you remember the smell of baby magic on the back of their little necks while they sleep on your shoulder? Babies are my Valium.

I have always said that their was nothing better than the smell of baby :) Lily sounds like she is so much fun and how blessed you all are in having that precious doll baby and Lily knows she is loved by you all. I still use baby magic for Lizzy and myself :giggle:

Furry Facts About . . . Ferrets

1.The word “ferret” is from the Latin fur, meaning “little thief.” Indeed, one of the ferret’s favorite activities is stealing and hiding things.d
2.The ferret was domesticated several thousand years ago to help hunters flush rabbits from their holes (“ferreting out”) and also to catch small animals such as rats and mice.b
3.Ferrets belong to the weasel (Mustelidae) family. Besides weasels and ferrets, this group of animals also includes minks, otters, and badgers as well as polecats and sables.e
4.Like all members of the weasel family, ferrets are closely related to skunks and, like skunks, they can emit an odorous smell when excited or afraid. Consequently, many ferret owners decide to have their ferrets de-scented.g
5.Ferrets are the only members of the weasel family that have been domesticated by people to become pets.f
6.Ferrets sleep for about 15–20 hours a day, usually for about 4 hours at a time. A ferret’s sleep is also known as “ferret dead sleep” because ferrets sleep so deeply.b
7.An endangered species of ferrets previously thought to extinct, the black-footed ferret, was recently rediscovered in America.a
8.Like cats, pet ferrets use litter boxes to go to the bathroom, though they are not quite as easily trained as cats.f
9.It is illegal to own a ferret in California, Hawaii, New York City, and Washington D.C. as well as in some communities in other states.b
10.Ferrets that are neutered very young may not grow as big as those neutered after they reach 6 months old.g
11.Ferrets are considered to be geriatric by the time they reach 4 years old.e
12.Baby ferrets are called kits, adult males are called hobs, and adult females are called jills. A castrated male is called a gib and a spayed female is called a sprite. Hobs and gibs are up to 50% larger than jills and sprites.b
13.There are about 5 to 7 million pet ferrets in the U.S.e
14.Though the ferret has been domesticated for over 2,000 years, it has only been a popular pet in the U.S. for the last 30 years.e
Ferret Facts A group of ferrets is known as a "business" 15.A group of ferrets is called a “business.”b
16.“Ferret legging” is a contest in which participants drop 2 live ferrets into their pants (without underwear) that are tied off at the waist and the ankles. The animals then claw and bite to try to get free. The winner of the contest is the participant who can keep the ferret in his pants the longest. While most people can only last a few minutes, in 2010 two men kept the ferrets in their pants for over 5 hours.b
17.Ferrets are prone to several medical conditions, including adrenal diseases and intestinal blockage (from gobbling inedible objects). They also carry the same afflictions as a cat or dog, such as canine distemper, rabies, and heartworm.b
18.There are several populations of feral ferrets throughout the world. The most notable and destructive population lives in New Zealand. They were initially imported from England from 1879 to 1883 to help control the rabbit population. When that population was under control, the hybrids began eating New Zealand’s native birds which, until that time, had no natural predators.b
19.When ferrets are excited, they perform what is called a “weasel war dance,” which is a series of leaps, sideways hops, and bumping into nearby objects. Such a display is not a sign of aggression but rather an invitation to play.b
20.Ferrets imprint on their food at about 6 months old, which makes introducing new food to older ferrets difficult.f
21.Queen Elizabeth owned an albino ferret, which appears in one of her portraits.b
22.The ferret is the most popular companion mammal in the U.S. behind the dog and cat.g
23.Ferrets are closer to cats and dogs than they are to mice or rats.f
24.Ferrets can live up to 15 years, though most live 6 to 10 years.g
25.Ferrets come in a variety of colors, including sable, chocolate, cream, cinnamon, silver, and albino. All ferrets are white at birth and begin to turn their adult color at 3 months old.d
26.Baby ferrets are born both deaf and blind and begin to hear and see at around 34 days old.g
27.Because ferrets are domesticated and their estrous cycle is similar to humans, they have become important in reproduction research, such as sexual differentiation in the brain and factors that control puberty and ovulation. Ferrets have also been used for auditory research, flu vaccine research, and ant-emetics research for cancer patients.f
28.While not as common as with dogs, ferrets will wag their tail when happy. They will also make a chortling or clucking sound known as “dooking.”f
29.In the past, ferrets have been trained to carry cables through tunnels, pipes, and other places too small for humans.b
30.Ferrets have very flexible ribs that allow them to flatten themselves and crawl through very small spaces.d
31.In recent years, people have begun breeding ferrets with specialized colors, such as “badger” and “panda.” Unfortunately, these patterns make them more susceptible to a congenital defect called Waardenburg syndrome—which in ferrets leads to deafness. Most ferrets that have a white blaze or stripe on their head are at least partially deaf
32.Just as a wolf can breed with a domestic dog, ferrets and European polecats can breed. In fact, there are some polecat/ferret hybrids living in the wild in England. Ferrets and polecats can also interbreed with the European mink, though their male offspring will be sterile.b
33.While most ferrets pose little real danger to humans, some ferrets have been known to attack and kill babies. In June 2000, a pair of pet ferrets attacked a 10-year-old girl in Wisconsin. Luckily, the family dog leapt to her rescue, and she required only stitches.b
34.In 2011, a 4-month-old boy who had been left in a rocker was attacked by a pet ferret. It chewed all the boy’s fingers off except for his thumbs and a little bit of a pinkie finger. The boy’s father pleaded guilty to 2nd-degree child endangerment. The mother was sentenced to 30 days in rehab and 2 years probation.b
35.In Hillsboro, Oregon, a ferret killed a 10-week-old baby in 1991. However, in most cases where a ferret attacks a baby, parental neglect is a large factor. Experts believe that because babies smell like milk, ferrets view them as prey.b
36.Female ferrets who do not mate or are not spayed can overproduce estrogen, which can lead to anemia, clotting, and even death.d
37.In England, hunting rabbits with ferrets is a sport. Ferrets can burrow and track a rabbit underground. The ferret wears a special collar so its owner can find them and dig them out.e
38.In Argentina, someone drugged ferrets with growth hormones and sold them as poodles at swap meets.h
39.Falconers have used ferrets to help bring prey closer to the hawk. If ferrets are introduced early in its life, a hawk will accept it as a hunting partner.c
40.According to the American Veterinary Medicine Association, approximately 334,000 households in American own a pet ferret.d
41.Newborn ferrets are very small and can fit inside a teaspoon. While a full-grown ferret can reach 20 inches long and weigh 1.5 to 4.0 pounds, a newborn ferret weighs just 1 ounce.e
42.Ferrets are very nearsighted, but they compensate with a keen sense of hearing and smell.f
43.The most famous ferret is probably the one in Leonardo da Vinci’s painting Lady with an Ermine. While “ermine” is actually the name of a weasel or stoat, scholars believe the animal in the painting is a ferret.b
44.Ferrets are fairly expensive and can cost around $100.00 from a pet store. Most owners spend around $25 a month on ferret food. Ferrets also require quality cages, which can range anywhere between $60.00 and $500.00 per cage.f
45.Bathing a ferret often results in a smellier pet. A ferret’s oil glands will over produce in an attempt to replace the oils that have been washed down the drain. Ferrets usually need to be bathed only a few times a year

Neat tips with the rubbing alcohol.

Since it is officially winter time and lots of people get light snows and ice on their windshields, here is a tip that I came up with years ago that works wonders to prevent having to scrape ice or snow off your windshield.

If you go to the painting section of a major store like Walmart where they keep paints and stuff, you will find these Plastic Rolls that are used for drop cloths when painting.

They come in rolls. You want to buy the heavy duty thick plastic because the thin plastic is too thin and can tear too easily.

Get a roll of that sheet plastic and then cut large rectangles that fit over the windshield BUT be sure to have plenty extra hanging over the sides and also the roof and hood area to cover the windshield wipers.

Then on a night when you are due for snow or ice, take the sheet and place it over the windshield and let the edges hang over. Then here is where it gets a little tricky. For the 2 ends, you want to open your driver and passenger doors and tuck the end inside the car and close the door right on the plastic to keep it down. BE CAREFUL not to slam your fingers in the door when closing!!! (from experience...LOL)

Then in the morning, when you have that 1/2 inch sheet of ice on your car, just open the door and grab and end of the plastic and shake it off your car. Put key in ignition and drive away!!! :)

Puppy breath is a close second to babies.

My great nephews had a ferret and it crawled into the dishwasher. It didn't make it through the wash rinse and dry cycle, and it was a surprise and not a pretty sight when their mom opened it to put dishes away.

My grandson has Amazon Prime with no shipping charges, and I asked him if he'd use it for me to buy Inky coloring books for my sister in law and two of my nieces, and he said sure, but he'll charge me for shipping! I also made the mistake of buying him Mitchum antiperspirant 48 hour , and he thinks it'll last 48 hours hence no showers for two days. Try auguring with someone with Asperger who takes thing literally.

Interesting Facts About Crabs

We can now learn all about crabs....

1.Both crabs and lobsters are decapods, or crustaceans with 10 limbs. Other decapods include crayfish, prawns, and shrimp.e
2.While lobsters have a long, segmented abdomen that sticks out at the back of their bodies, crabs have a similar but smaller abdomen that is curled up underneath the main shell.c
3.Most crabs have flat bodies that enable them to squeeze into very narrow crevices.d
4.A crab’s shell is really a skeleton on the outside of its body. Insects and spiders also have external skeletons.d
5.A strong waterspout may sweep up animals, such as crabs, that live near the water surface and then rain them down over land.f
6.The largest crab in the world is the giant Japanese Spider Crab, which can measure up to 13 feet across.a
7.Crabs are also known as “spiders of the sea” because, like crabs, spiders have legs that bend at joints.c
8.There are two kinds of crabs. First are true crabs, or brachyurans, which have a very short abdomen and use four pairs of long legs for walking. True crabs include blue crabs, spider crabs, and ghost crabs. Second are false crabs, or anomurans, which have a longer abdominal section and fewer walking legs. False crabs include hermit crabs, king crabs, and squat lobsters.e
9.There are about 5,000 species of crabs. Only about 4,500 are true crabs. The other 500 types are false crabs and include hermit crabs, king crabs, porcelain crabs, horseshoe crabs, and crab lice.c
10.All crabs have claws on their two front legs.e
11.All crabs have one pair of pincers (chelipeds) and four pairs of walking legs.e
12.Crabs have large compound eyes made up of hundreds of tiny lenses.d
13.A crab can use its claws as a vice for crushing or like scissors for cutting. They can also be used like chopsticks to pick up food. d
14.A hard shell called a carapace covers a crab’s body.c
15.All crabs have maxillipeds and other paired structures on their heads that are used for feeding
16.The Sally Lightfoot (a.k.a. red rock) crab is the most colorful crab in the world. It is red, orange, yellow, and white.e
17.Crabs live in more different places than any other sea animal. They are found almost everywhere in the ocean, including smoking volcanic vents thousands of feet below the surface. They also live under the ice in Antarctica. One type of crab even lives on land and climbs trees.d
18.Crab lice, also known as “pubic lice,” are parasitic insects that live on humans. They can live any place where there is hair, including pubic hair and eyelashes. They feed only on blood.e
19.The word “cancer” is related to the word “crab” in Latin. Greek physicians Hippocrates and Galen, among others, noted the similarity of swollen tumors with veins to crabs.c
20.The coconut crab is a giant hermit crab that lives on islands in the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. It weighs up to 10 pounds, making it the world’s largest land invertebrate.c
21.Male and female crabs can be distinguished by looking at their abdomens. In most male crabs, the form of the abdomen (pleon) is narrow and triangular, while the females have a broader, rounder abdomen. Additionally, female crabs have smaller claws than male crabs. c
22.Crabs hatch as tiny larvae, just the size of the head of a pin. Crab larvae float for several weeks before settling to the ocean floor to hatch.e
23.A female crab lays millions of eggs at one time. She carries them underneath her body until the eggs hatch.e
24.Crabs communicate by flapping their pincers or drumming their claws.e
25.A group of crabs is called a cast.c
26.Crabs are crustaceans (have an exoskeleton) and arthropods (have segmented appendages).c
27.Humans eat about 1.5 million tons of crab every year. Crabs make up 1/5 of all creatures that are caught from bodies of water around the world.d
28.Crab meat is very high in vitamin B12. Just 2–3 ounces of crab meat will supply an adult with the daily B12 requirement.d
29.While early research declared that crabs feel no pain, new research suggests crabs not only suffer pain but they also remember it. Consequently, scientists say crustaceans should be treated with the same care as vertebrates.b
30.The Japanese Blue Crab or the Horse crab is the most consumed crab in the world.e
31.True crabs can walk slowly in any direction, but when they need to hurry, they usually move sideways.e
32.Pea crabs are the smallest of all crabs and, not surprisingly, are about the size of a pea.e
33.The small boxer crab carries a pair of stinging anemones in its claws as protection
34.Some crabs, such as the spider crab, disguise themselves by attaching living things, such as anemones, to their bodies. These living decorations not only camouflage the crab, but the anemones’ stings also discourage predators.c
35.Crabs have eyes that are set on eyestalks. Eyestalks can move in different directions and allow a crab to see all around. The stalk helps a crab see while hiding under water, rock, coral, sand, or mud.e
36.Crabs are omnivores. They are usually not picky eaters and will eat bits of dead plants and animals, algae, worms, detritus, or other crustaceans.c
37.Crabs have several predators, including seagulls, sea otters, octopuses, and humans.d
38.A crab may lose a claw or leg in a fight. In time, the claw or leg grows back.d
39.Crabs can live on land as long as they keep their gills moist.e
40.Crabs often work together to get food and to protect their families.e
41.A crab’s shell does not grow or stretch. When a grab gets bigger, it must climb out its shell in a process called molting. When a crab molts, a crack forms along the shell and then the crab backs out of it.e
42.Most crabs molt six or seven times during their first year of life, and then they molt just once or twice a year.e
43.Crabs are invertebrates, which mean they don’t have a backbone. More than 95% of all kinds of animals are invertebrates.c
44.Horseshoe crabs are not crabs at all. They are not even crustaceans. Instead, they have their own separate class named Merostomata. They have hardly changed since the age of the dinosaurs, and their closest-living relatives are spiders.c
45.While crabs do not have teeth inside their mouth, some crabs—such as the decorator and brown crabs—have teeth in their stomachs. These grind against one another when the stomach contracts to mash up food. c
46.Crabs can contract a terrifying parasite called a sacculina, which effectively castrates a crab and makes it incubate and hatch the parasite’s eggs. Additionally, due to loss of nutrition, the crab’s natural ability to grow another claw for defense purposes is also lost.
