Oh good grieve! I think I need to stay away from Amazon for awhile. I honestly believe some people over there just want to argue. It's so hard to have a conversation with some of them. WOW that felt good. Oh I feel better now. Hi everyone LOL

A white Russian is someone who emigrated from Russia to the west during the Russian Revolution , 1917 -20 and the change of regime from Monarchy to Communism... They were against the Communist regime (the Reds)

I thought a White Russian was Kahlua, Vodka, milk and ice yummy it's been awhile since I've had one.

Yes, and that makes sense because of some of the ancestoral tracking I've been trying to do. But I have very few records to use. So I end up just giving up!

Of course - and hey! It's true - I am! I had the world on my shoulders then - real or imagined - and I do feel younger now! Don't you?

I say that to my kids and they just look at me and :sigh: and tell me that I am getting more eccentric every year! :floorlaugh:

But....ermmm .....the thing is - I don't look younger....sigh...

Some of the web sites you can do a wide search and some only in the US. Check them out to see which ones can help you. Finding family you never knew about is always exciting. How cool for you to be going over their and to walk the land as they did. You might get there and feel a connection you never knew you had. Good Luck on your journey.

Actually, I have been back about 5 times to Latvia!! I LOVE it!! Once I retire I hope to move there, as I have duel citizen!

By way of Switzerland? Can you imagine coming to a whole new world looking for freedom? My husband was born on "American" soil in Italy. His dad was a GI who'd married a young woman in the town, so my husband was an American when he was born. When the Army was leaving they told my mother in law that she could stay, but my husband (18 months old) would be coming with them. She came to America on an military ship and was dropped in New York with nothing. She studied to become an American and was very proud of America till the day she died.

My Huz's mom is from Switzerland!! I came through Ellis Island in 1952!!

grammie, You didn't take a long enough break!! You can do it, just try a couple days, at least. The posters over there are from the JB and fca camp. I can't think of anyone else who would defend her. There has not been a review on jb's book since Sept. 17, ANJ is doing great dealing with amazon!

Maybe smack your knuckles with a ruler or make you kneel on rice for awhile :floorlaugh: But, if you are wearing black patent leather shoes forget it, you are going to "HE double LL" for eternity!

I have to admit, my kids went to Catholic school in the 70's and 80's and the nuns were much nicer then in the 50's and 60's!

Well, we'd be too mellow to get into much trouble! Lots of giggling and attacks of the munchies, that's about it....lol. (Disclaimer: I haven't done anything like that in years. Really. I can't afford to fry any more brain cells.)
