A family lay in shambles;
A precious child lay dead.
Not beyond a reasonable doubt
Is what the jury said.
Peoples names dragged through the mud,
A smoke screen to help hide
The truth on that benighted day,
When Lady Justice cried.
She wept for judgment gone awry,
For hearts too blind to see
The value of a cherished life,
A child, Caylee Marie.
A tiny treasure thrown away,
So cruelly tossed aside
Like trash amid the brush and weeds
Thats why the Lady cried.
Who was the last to see the love
That shined in that sweet smile,
Or hear the laughter in her voice,
That heart so free of guile?
Was there no compassion for the babe,
Or was it all denied?
Twas for these things and more, you see,
Why Lady Justice cried.
But though no justice on this earth
For Caylee we may see,
We know this very moment she
Sits on the Fathers knee
And smiles as she bends down to earth
To gently wipe away
The tears that Lady Justice cried
On that benighted day.
