LG, you know I :heartluv: ya, but I have recently discovered that it is really a LOT deeper than that. I think you guys that followed this case would find that case very, very interesting. Warning though - all of the facts that are coming out now are very disturbing. Very.

I am not a big crier, the Powell case has absoluted haunted me for the past week. It is the only case other than Caylee's where I have been affected so much, that I find myself crying and I have had several dreams about it. I can only digest small portions of the news releases at a time, because each one is more horrifying than the one before it.

I have to say that Susan's parents, Chuck & Judy Cox are AMAZING people. Their grace is just unbelievable considering the circumstances and grief they are experiencing. They have even had made arrangements for the children's funeral to be streamed live so that online support communities, such as WS, can "attend" and get some closure. When asked why, Chuck responded, "Because their support has been steadfast over the past 2 years and they are hurting too." (paraphrased - I believe the interview was on the Today show this morning??). There will be a Dateline special airing tonight on it.

Watching now, thanks!

You have been able to watch and read more than me. I have purposely stayed away from any follow-up news to the explosion. It's just too much for me, and I knew it would drag me down. I'm helpless to do anything to turn back time, so I'm just staying away... although I did see a story this morning where the man who took the 911 calls feels regret that he didn't take the call more seriously. He understands that, even if he had acted with more urgency, it wouldn't have made a difference.

I pray all the time that God will put an end to child abuse and neglect, and make the world a better place. Maybe it's happening, I don't know. But I keep praying.

Dateline was very hard to watch. This case is so horrendous that it will haunt - for a very long time.

It is hard to imagine the last moments for these children. I can't go there in my mind, I just can't. These grandparents, oh my God, please give them some peace of mind. I pray.

And I'm hearing a bloody blanket was found in a storage shed rented by Josh? Has there been any explanation why this blanket was not found until this point?

I haven't heard anything about that. Memorial services will be on TV today. There are links in the Susan Powell thread.

:praying:

I purposely distance myself from all cases since Caylee. I grew very close to Caylee as I know we all did & the verdict devasted me. So much so that I swore I would never become deeply involved in any case again.
My heart is broken because Caylee was never loved like she deserved while she was alive. The only one who ever came close to truely loving her in life was George & George & Caylee had to pay the price for that love.
To this day I cry my heart out for Caylee Marie.

It looks like since the horrific tragedy a lot of things have come out that didn't come out before, either because LE suspected but could not comment on, or because a search warrant would have been needed and there was insufficient evidence to get one. Seems should have been a no-brainer to get a warrant but not being part of the investigative team we cannot know for sure. I'm not blaming LE. I think they knew more than they said but their hands are sometimes tied....because of the suspect's rights.

Do we know if this bloody blanket was just found, or was found long ago? If it was found long ago, he should have been arrested.

But if it was just found, then something needs to change as far as the difficulty of police getting warrants. That's ridiculous. Two children could have been saved if this bozo had been in jail. It sounds awful easy to commit a crime in America and get away with it these days, doesn't it? (Caylee, Lisa, Powell kids!!!) :scream:

My guess is KC's handler's gave her a lot of attention when she was first released. Now the handler's are gone and she is bored stiff. What better way to get attention than what she is doing with the videos. She just does not care about anyone's opinion. She can only see her's. I don't even think it bothers her what people think or say as long as she gets attention. Sort of like a 2 year old doing whatever they can to get attention. She just doesn't care unless there is some focus on her, good, bad or indifferent. jmo
I agree. Negative attention, to someone who is totally self-absorbed, is still attention.

The article reads as if it were just found.

If this doesn't wake up someone, it should.

LE's hands are often tied. This whole thing could have been prevented. Why oh why did the court allow this visitation when he was the prime suspect? :tears:

I can not get past him telling them that he had a suprise for them.

February 21st is the 52nd day of the year? Anyone close to Casey born on February 21st? :waitasec:

ETA: I'm only playing with the whole "52" thing. It's fun though and I can just imagine the reaction Prophet Ahhh-Choo is having right now.

:floorlaugh: Thanks, I needed that! :floorlaugh:

I have no way of knowing if there was a search warrant denied, or even if one was requested. All I can say without further information is that I cannot blame LE for dropping the ball with that; maybe they did but maybe they didn't. Search warrants are sometimes denied for insufficient cause. In this case it would be hard to believe that happened but we just don't know.

I believe the kids could have been saved had the visits been more strictly monitored, i.e., held in a neutral facility or even in a non-neutral one that favored the childrens' rights and welfare. That was done initially, but then set aside at the request of Josh Powell! And that is very hard to accept, given the nature of the investigation into Susan's disappearance and Josh being a POI. A sitation like this--a parent having marital or legal difficulties kidnapping or killing the kids--is not unheard of. It's one of the reasons we have such a thing as supervised visits, FGS.

I think that is where changes need to be made. The POI in a missing or murdered spouse case may need to be stripped of some of their parental rights temporarily until the situation can be better investigated. At the very least, the visits need to be more structured and more intensely supervised. The price of doing that would be, IMO, minimal compared to leaving things as they are with little children placed in harm's way because the law leans toward parental rights above all else.

The children were there at the home of Josh Powell to have a supervised visit. Josh slammed the door on the worker who was there to supervise the visit and wouldn't let her in. It was never intended that he see the children alone.

I am aware of that.

The visit supervision was ordered to protect the children because there was reason to believe this was necessary. Given this presumption of possible harm to the children, I cannot accept the ease by which Josh Powell was able to turn things once again to his advantage by simply complaining about the facility in which they were required to meet not having enough privacy. Had he not been successful in doing so, he might not have had the opportunity to close the door in anyone's face...let alone to bring in gas cans and set the stage as he could in the privacy of his home.

From what I have seen,LE have worked tirelessly on this case since it started.
I can't help thinking about the unfortunate officer who had to go and tell Susan's parents what Josh had done. That would be the worst job in the world. The whole case will now be the subject of intense second-guessing and I'm sure that if LE could have found the evidence to arrest Josh they would have, a long time ago.. Our system protects the guilty to such an extent that the victim no longer has rights.

BBM - Me, too. Caylee's case was the only one I'd ever followed that had to do with a child and after the verdict I just couldn't get into another one.

I saw a report on the news tonight about the Powell boy's memorial service. They were put in the same casket & will be buried Monday in a private ceremony. Just that two minute report had me crying for 10 minutes. I just can't face this kind of ***** after Caylee was denied justice...

ETA: Another reason I can't get into the deaths of children, especially if they are murdered, is because I could never have any. It just makes me so upset that these people would rather kill their children than give them to someone that wants a child so desperately & can't have them. :banghead:

Jesse Grund just tweeted that we should standby for updates. I wonder if this is about a book from the Grund's perspective.
