Thank you! I saw she was trending and I couldn't figure out why!

okay - I know I'm old - but what is "trending" ??

Also - whomever is turning those People magazines around must live in my area!! LOL! Saw a few turned around yesterday at the Supermarket - and had to peek and see if it was OKC!! YES! :floorlaugh:

When you go to your Twitter page, it show the top ten words or word combinations that are getting the most use at the moment, or 'trending'. Often when a person's name shows up it is because they've done something that is breaking news. In this instance, Casey Anthony was trending because so many people were using her name in reference to the Troy Davis situation.

You can set your 'trending' to show what is trending nationally, internationally, by some city or state only, etc. I have mine set to the U.S., and Casey Anthony was trending that way. She's not anymore as of right this minute. The trending list updates regularly and names go on or off the list depending on Twitter activity.

That was all probably TMI, but I think there are a lot of people who don't use Twitter and wouldn't know. I like Twitter myself.

respectfully snipped...
Thanks MarthaM! I repeated your quote - just in case some of the other oldsters (like me) missed this! No, no Twitter here - I don't even own a cell phone... :peace:

I must be missing something. That can't be Casey, every post is against her. Why would she tweet with such angry peeps?

You guys are killing me! :floorlaugh: It's not Casey tweeting, it's people tweeting about her! If Twitter sees the same word over and over more than others, they call it trending.

This might be considered off topic, but I feel it's very much on topic for a cause that's near and dear to all of us.

I believe that our system is the best system available for allowing a person (guilty or innocent) to get a fair trial. Yes, some guilty walk free, and some innocents are jailed, but I truly believe the vast majority of verdicts are correct. The high profile cases are only a tiny percentage of the cases tried daily throughout our great country. The high profile cases that result in a not guilty verdict are a very tiny percentage of all cases.

Does our justice system need work? Yes. Our justice system will always need work. The industrial revolution caused change in child labor laws. Civil rights laws changed drastically in the mid 50's through late 60's. Our justice system is a work in progress and always will be as long as our country continues to exist as it has since the days of George Washington.

There will always be debate over whether or not a sequestered jury is a good idea. Until someone comes up with a better idea, we will continue seeing COV's and sequestered juries.

I think juries do realize the error of letting a guilty person go free, just as the error that would exist in placing an innocent person in jail. The burden must lie with the prosecution, and it is a heavy burden this burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt. I think 99.99 percent of all juries, try to reach the correct verdict, based on the evidence and the law, even the verdicts that are unpopular.

As always, my entire post is my opinion only.

Here's an interesting thought about all of this....... The Conrad Murray jury is NOT being SEQUESTERED........ Now that floors me. I'd be willing to bet it's fallout from the CA trial....... What do you guys think?? On another note, I really feel sorry for THIS jury and CM, there are a lot on NUTS out there to exact revenge on CM for MJ's death, these people have no protection like the CA jury did, I can't imagine them aquitting this poor guy for that reason alone- hell - I have a family, I wouldnt' want to be in their position... It's a lose lose situation :twocents:

She is "trending" because so many people are saying an injustice was done at her trial. They are saying if reasonable doubt got C.A. off, why can't reasonable doubt save T.D. from execution. They are not talking about her in a good way.

I heard some THs on TV the night before last saying the Casey Anthony Fallout IS seriously affecting the Conrad Murray trial. But I am NOT going to follow it... I never cared much for MJ and this trial never interested me at all!

I have zero interest of following it as well.......

My husband took our four-year old grandson to the grocery store this afternoon. My grandson immediately began turning over all magazines with FCA's face! I got a good chuckle from that, and I did not tell him to do so!

Caylee and Zahra were both murdered by their mothers and thrown away like garbage. In Zahra's case she was dismembered. The media had very little to say about Zahra I guess there just wasn't enough money to be made.

Haven't been on this page in a while and saw something on TV that I wanted to post but didn't know where I could put it....then....Lo & Behold I come here and find this new thread....just the place...Thanks! :woohoo:

I was watching the Harry's Law on NBC tonight.
Man accused of killing his wife talking to his defense lawyers and mentions to them:
(not probably exact wording but close)

"Well killers do get off, look at OJ and Casey Anthony."

Could hardly believe it. Looks like the script writers might have followed some of this case; the accused also had a journal they wanted to keep out of the trial, talked of confusing the jury with too much info and such. Judge even reminded me of Strickland in looks and his last name actually ended with "land". Storyline continues next week.

If case anyone is interested this episode is re-airing on Sat 9/24 at 8 pm EST.
Pretty good series about lawyers with a bit of comedy thrown in.

Cheer up.....misinformation that it was jurors who now claim innocence is another example of the media picking up someone else's misinformation and reporting it as fact...which was as prevalent in recent days concerning Troy Davis case as during the Caylee trial.

TD defense CLAIMED that 7 witnesses were willing to recant their testimony that HELPED convict Troy 20 years ago....but did not come out with this claim until about 6 months.

Case is local to me...is 20 years in the making....Georgia got the right man. PLENTY of forensic, ballistic evidence...

Exactly what I thought too. I bet at least half those protesting don't even know all the details. Wasn't he convicted also on another case of shooting(but not killing) someone else earlier that same day with the same gun?

I think it was the continuous media antics by the A family that brought so much attention to case in the beginning. Their constant outrageous behavior by them and JB fanned the flames in the media so much they have to go outside the county for a jury so in part they did help get KC off.

Zahras stepmother took a plea. I read on this case but dont post much.I can see the little Angels face just by thinking of her. She was so precious, going through all she did just to be "given" to this monster. How could she!!! I hope she rots in he((.
kc's case is one I hope we never see again. Something was not right.:banghead:

Location may have played a role in that case too. The anthony case happened in a well populated area, exposing a lot of local interest. Zahra case was out in the middle of nowhere in NC.

quite so.

That and, oh, I don't know...

31 DAYS

(I still can't believe it - any of it, all of it)

I don't think it's worth creating a poll over, but I wonder what would be the more damming evidence?

31 days of not reporting your child missing vs. your dna all over the crime scene where your ex wife and a waiter were brutally murdered.
