Found Deceased Siletz, OR - 2yo Dane Paulsen, missing from yard of residence, 01 MAR 2025

A massive search is underway for an Oregon toddler who was reported missing on Saturday afternoon, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department.

Dane Paulsen, 2, was reported missing at approximately 4:25 p.m. Saturday and was last seen playing in the front yard of his family's Siletz, Oregon, home, "out of sight of his parents," the sheriff's department said in a statement on Sunday.

-By the end of the day on Monday, authorities had searched 682 acres and 311 miles, but Paulsen has still not been found, authorities said.

-Search-and-rescue teams comprising 88 total members, 40 investigators, four aerial drones, multiple human trailing dogs and 140 community volunteers continue to search for Paulsen, authorities said. Marine teams, including 13 divers, have also begun looking in the Siletz River, authorities said.

The Lincoln County Major Crime Team and the FBI are also assisting with the investigation and any new leads, authorities said. The FBI's Victim Service Division is also providing resources to Paulsen's family, officials said.

-"There is no evidence at this time to suggest criminal actions are involved in this incident," police said.

Well the gold car wasn't made up, that person stepped up so I'm not seeing anything weird about it. It just happened that the car was driven in the area around the time of Dane's disppearance. IMO
I didn’t say it was made up?

Curious, for the hydrologists and environmental scientists among us: how fast-moving is the current in that river?
Depends on rain, snow melt, and if there are any dams on that river and any releases they have. I’m not familiar with that river.

USGS provides data on the water discharge in cubic feet per second for Siletz River, and any river you’re interested in. How fast it’s flowing would affect how fast things move down river.

This indicates low levels.

However, there was significant rains last week in Oregon. The Rogue River at Grants Pass when I was there last monday was running high.

The whole gold car thing seems weird. I know they cleared the vehicle but I don’t know.
I think it was probably just an unknown car to the community parked in the area at the time - nothing more to see here IMO.

Would you really choose a gold coloured car if you were planning on abducting somebody? You’d 99% of time go for a more common colour.

The owner came forward quickly (all credit to them) and the police have quickly removed them from their line of enquiry.

I believe he was cleared after someone else reported the vehicle not that he came forward quickly edited to include confirmation of this.

I don’t feel that this is likely what happened but the actions of the owner of the vehicle feel a bit weird after he was told by the reporting person what was going on. I guess I can only go by what my own actions would be - if someone told me I had a similar vehicle and police needed my vehicle to clear I would head to the police department - not to overlook the water.

I’m not sure abductors always have a choice of their vehicle color though. Not sure of the relevance of this.

It happens to all parents that on occasion, their child is playing out of sight for at least a moment. Some parents just don't remember, but it happens. Kids run around.
Yeah I think the most likely answer to this is that he is in the river unfortunately and mom will have to live with that as a consequence and that’s enough.

I can think of a Billion times I’ve had to run into the house or other side of the yard quick. We are parents and still humans and I hate when that gets forgotten in all of this

This first photo is so sad- all the search vehicles parked at the Paulson house and the water right there. Different perspective.
