Sir Roger Moore dead at 89

I was in London in the summer of 1983. Hoping to see a member of the Royal Family, I checked the Court Circular in the Times. You can imagine how excited I was to see that Prince Charles and Diana were going to attend the premiere of Octopussy that evening. My DH and I went over to Leicester Square, where he Odeon Theatre is, and we joined a sizable gaggle of people, all waiting to see what we could see.

By and by, a flotilla of Rolls Royce saloon cars hove into sight down the avenue. The first few cars had a number of Bond girls in them, then M, then Q, then Moneypenny! Then Vijay Armitraj!
And Louis Jourdan! And Maud Adams (Octopussy)! And, at last, Roger Moore! The crowd swooned, and cheered, and waved.



And then Roger Moore pointed directly at me, and winked.....Sigh...

Enough excitement, you say? Another Rolls approached, this one with the Union Jack fluttering in the breeze. It stopped directly in front of me, and out stepped the Princess, so lovely in a silvery white one-shouldered gown. A moment to remember. Prince Charles got out on the other side, also looking fine in his well-tailored tux.
