It’s not unusual for Skanda Navaratnam to disappear for a couple days at a time, so two years ago he made a deal with his best friend.
“After three days, if you don’t hear from me, start worrying,” Jean-Guy Cloutier recalled Navaratnam telling him.
It has been nearly three weeks since the 40-year-old man vanished from a downtown bar. His family of friends started worrying a long time ago.
“I’m hoping that he decided to just pick up and go. That would be the best-case scenario, that he just forgot (about our deal) and said, ‘Forget this, I’m going to start a new life somewhere else,’” Cloutier said Thursday amid a week of postering pictures of his friend around downtown Toronto around downtown Toronto.
That scenario is hopeful, but seems unlikely considering the circumstances.
