Another thing, I could see a witness describing Byrd as NA, with a possible mix of Caucasian.
He looks like that to me.

I believe they said he is about 6 feet, approximately 35 years old, slender build (didn't say how much he weighed) and that he was NA or could be NA/Caucasian.

Usually the age can be off with sketches. It is very hard for some to guess ages.

This was posted this morning by someone on Topuix:

"I live and work in rural osage county. Today I was contacted by the US Marshal service in reference to a man that is sought for questioning in the murder of these two young girls. For the past 8 hours we've been conducting surveillance on a residence where he is supposed to reside in Fairfax Oklahoma. At approximately 0115 hrs. this man was located and arrested on a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender in Osage County. His name was William Henry Byrd. Being a father of 3 my heart goes out to the families involved. God bless."

thank you..and yes, it's true, age is very difficult to tell especially if a person is wearing a hat to cover some of their face.

Byrd does look like the POI sketch and he also looks younger (like many NA men) than his age. The sketch and Byrd look the same age (IMO). Byrd's hair may very well be waist length - they have asked him to tuck it back inside his shirt for the photos - so as to better show his face and neck. LE doesn't put too much emphasis on hair in mug shots - hair can change, faces cannot - they actually prefer mug shots when the person has had his hair chopped (almost shaved off) in prison. I'm not sure, but it may be that NA's do NOT have to cut their hair in prison (like other inmates) - it's considered a religious and cultural RIGHT for them to have long hair.

Now we just need to know if he COULD have been in Weleetka the day of the murders - it's probably a 2 hour drive from where it appears he is living but he might have relatives in the area - the population in the Weleetka area is as much as 60% NA. And does he own a white truck or does a friend/family member own a white truck?

If he is the killer (and not just a witness) I'd like to know whether he has or has access to TWO firearms? And where he has been living or has lived in the past - looks like he just got out of prison in March 07 from a crime that happened in 1996? And whether the sexual assault was on an adult or a child and whether the victim was male or female?

We have to remember that the POI MAY NOT be the killer at all - he may just be a witness. I am heartened that people are still looking for the POI and calling LE with sightings! This is good!

ITA..to me, this guy is the only person I've seen so far that really looks like the POI. I never thought the TC guy looked like the sketch.

Good morning FC!
This was discussed up thread, because I thought the same thing...his hair was tucked in the jail jumper. However, there are more pics from the same mugshot, and it shows the profile with his hair to his shoulders.

Depending on the eye color, it depeds how close the witness was, I know I'd have a hard time noticing someone's eye color if I drove by them (if this was the case) and he might look older because drugs, alcohol and hard living have a tendency to make someone appear older. I see way too many similarities otherwise though.

Let's assume for arguments sake this is NOT the POI. (personally, I think they are one and the same) Anyway, even if this is not the POI, the man that LE are speaking to &/or arrested is a NON-registered sex offender. Thank-you LE! For getting this creep off the streets.

And alcohol, drug use and hard living can age a persons face and make them look older than they are.

I have to admit I know absolutely nothing about drugs but through the years I have read many articles about how it ages someone. Some of the photos shown are just shocking but this guy has been in prison since 1996 and just released last year so I don't know if he is a drug user or not.

I wonder if OSBI have been looking for this particular man since this happened and finally got a tip where he was?

originally LE had released info. that the POI had green eyes. I never put much credence into the color of his eyes. With colored contacts, anyone can change their eye color. If I remember correctly, eventually the eye color was changed to brown.

I think Byrd looks a little younger than someone almost 50, and remember...the mugshot is under a bright light & up close, where the witnesses saw the poi outside, from at least several feet away, and wearing a baseball cap.
He might be the POI and didn't come forward because he's not registered and didn't want trouble. For all we know Byrd is the POI, but not the killer.

Well I will admit if I saw someone that I thought was NA by their overall look I may just assume that they had brown eyes if I did not get a close look at their eyes but did their overall body and face.

My own daughter has green eyes at times and then at times they look brown. I guess they are brownish green and depending on the lighting or what she is wearing they change colors.

The only thing I've read in the press is the poi had brown eyes. I had no idea they were listed by LE as green initially.
