I've seen pictures of the spot several times in the last year and I guess it never occurred to me how dense the vegetation was along the side of the road.

I know the girls weren't too high up in the brush when found, but brush that dense makes me believe that the girls would have walked nearly on the road. Maybe they did see a car approach and move off the road, somewhat into the brush, but I bet they wouldn't walk in that with shorts. I wouldn't.

My point being that it seems to me, just speculating, that they were up higher in the brush, if I remember the positions of the bodies from the autopsy report, when shot. It seems they may have been trying to be less conspicuous for some reason.

I've never been convinced the killer was in a vehicle. Nor have I ever been convinced anyone saw a POI in a white truck.

YellowDog, SeriouslySearching, and EnvoyDriver61 all make good points about the dust on the road, time it took to clear, and the POI. There is a record album cover of Native American Singer Robbie Robertson – I’ve wondered IF witnesses didn’t see someone and mistakenly and unconsciously give a description of Robertson instead – memory plays tricks, a variation on False Memory? Or if the POI was wearing a wig and perhaps a mask of Robertson. I so want this solved, NOW, before he/she/they kill again.

Can someone develop data as to how long it takes for the dust from a pickup to clear on that road by the bridge? And if anyone reported seeing such dust clouds? Or dust hanging in the air. Wind speeds that day there? Etc. Please. Thanks.

Have the string of Arsons in Weleetka downtown after the murders been solved yet?

I still think if that POI sketch closely resembled anyone in the area, someone would have come forward and identified him. And if there really was a POI and he was innocent, he would have come forward himself.

I still find it somethig to think about .. 1 minute from the house. Heck I can hold my breath for 1 minute !!!
Just look at all the bushes and stuff you could hide so easy..#1 if you were the girls or
#2 if your were the perp.

There is a path in the woods that goes straight from the P house to that tree. It was made by Taylor and the other kids. The kids would sit under that tree in the shade, talk and hang out. The landlord/owner of the house told me this himself. I have photos of the path and will post on here as soon as I can figure out how to do that.

Whoa, whoa, whoa!

Are you saying if the girls had made it past that point they may have left the road and disappeared into the woods along a path?

  • #467
that is interesting.

So, did Mr. P walk to the spot in the road using the road or the path, if true?

  • #468
WOW GiGi I had never heard that spoken of before .. this is the first I am hearing of that. Now however I remember Frog a loooong time ago saying there was a barbed wire fence behind the tree. But if that was a little gathering spot anyone couldve known it that was familiar with that road and such... it is not getting any eaiser ....

if you can see the little red marks that is where the wire fence is .. not a good pick I know but it was the first one I found .. (I am not really organized)..LOL

ArizonaG, Great find!
This PATH thru the bushes is somethig to 'think' about .. a whole other scenario.

Look at all the bushes, it would have been easy for anyone to disappear into.

That tree is so close, someone using the path could go to the tree quickly and back home without ever being missed.

Oklahoma girls can get through a barbed wire fence with no problem. It isn't a barrier when you know how to climb through one.

If there is a path directly back to the house and this tree is a place where they would normally hang out...it does open up a whole other scenario. Are we just finding out about this now or is it something mentioned long ago that I missed?

The wire fence is pushed down to about 2' high near the tree, where they step over it. Easy to get over.

I don't know if it has been discussed on here and by whom but we found out about the path in November when we did the Walk in Weleetka thing. I suspect that is where the girls were running TO when they went towards the fence. There were bullets in a tree to the right, and back. The direction that Skyla was running. Bullets that missed her/and or Taylor.

ArizonaG, So there was bullets in the big tree trunk and 13 bullets in the girls, wow!

That tells me one gun was an automatic....How many times can a .40 cal. Glock shoot?

If this was a congregating place, it explains the timeline to me a little better. We really struggled though in the beginning how two girls couldn't walk to the bridge and back in the time originally given. If there were short cuts, hidden paths, meeting places, etc., it makes sense that they couldn't nail down when the girls left and how long it takes to walk and return. I mean if this road was like the local mall for young people with a bunch of "moseying" and meeting places, it would make it difficult to know exactly when they left, what they did, etc.

When the POI was released, the LE was adament to explain that the girls had been witnessed on the road, in the area what was suspected to be minutes before they were shot, hinting that people had seen the killers.

To me, if this tidbit is true, and I can believe it to be true, for me it reinforces that someone local probably is responsible. The girls might have seen something up the road and the people might have said lets meet at the tree to discuss it or the girls were already sitting around the tree where people might know them to be and shot them there. I can see that happening.

Define to the right and "back". How far back?

WOOW..........after all this time, some of us are finding out for the first time, about a path in the brush.....it was my understanding it was all heavy brush along side the road......i never read anything about a path being there!........what else about the area has been left out?........to me that path information was is relevant, and it would have been nice to know about it months ago!...........frustrating!

and a question about this DNA COLLECTED......or at least that's what they say anyways............at the following link, of missing children in OK..........any POI in these cases, did they compare any DNA from them with what was collected at the scene?..................

http://www.ok.gov/osbi/Investigative/Oklahoma's_Missing_Children/

there's a couple at least from 07 08 that resembles the two girls........

I have to ask now...were we told about the path here?

This is probably unrelated to the girls, but the guy still sounds like he should be on our radar. He must be one cruel and vicious person to do that to anyone. I am glad someone rescued her before she died in the heat.

WETUMKA, Okla. (AP) - A Wetumka man has been arrested for allegedly locking a 16-year-old Weleetka girl in a large toolbox and holding a heated screwdriver against her.

Christopher Kyle Lewis was booked into the Hughes County jail Tuesday on charges of kidnapping and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

~Snip~

The affidavit says a Jan. 22 child abuse charge filed against Lewis involved the girl.

http://krmg.com/localnews/2009/08/man-accused-of-locking-girl-in.html BBM

It doesn't mention the relationship between the two, but if he was charged with child abuse before then I would have to assume they are related. I found it interesting because she is from Weleetka. It did not give the age of the man.

Haven't posted for awhile...

I thought it was determined that the girls were walking.

YellowDog, I agree! smoking mirrors!

Is it possible the girls was waiting at the tree for someone that evening?

EnvoyDriver, Excellent question that needed to be answered, long before now...imo

The girls could easily have had a planned rendezvous with someone at that exact spot if it was a meeting place of sorts.
