Skyla Whitaker, 11, & Taylor Placker 13 - Found Murdered - #3

Because of where the crime happened I would place a connection to the Plackers over the Whittakers. However, you could also say that because the crime happened so close to the house, the suspect had no clue the girls were so close to home and therefore did not know them or the Placker family. I think the latter because it would be risky to kill to girls close to their house. Who knows though, what goes on in a murderers mind.

I agree and tend to think the killer came from the north and didn't even know that Taylor's house was so close. He might not have seen the mailbox in his fit of rage.

Oh okay I thought it looked like two straight legs (11) and that was the date of the drawing. LOL Shows how bad my eyesight is........ I had it enlarged to 400.:)

I just know they are to date them the day they are drawn.

Thanks.

I had it at 500 and couldn't really tell!

I'm only trying to find an explanation as to why Taylor's biological parents haven't been mentioned at all, not even in her obituary. I find it so unusual not to mention the parents at all. Usually, when grandparents are raising a grandchild, it's because the parents are deceased, or the parents are unfit - drug or alcohol users, or incarcerated.

If Taylor was an out-of-wedlock baby of one of their daughters, born when their daughter was a young teen, they may have raised Taylor as a daughter and not a granddaughter, and the biological mother as a sister to Taylor. But if that's the case, why not refer to themselves as her parents instead of grandparents?

The killing of Taylor and Skyla is so brutal and senseless, I'm looking for a possible motive. The only thing I can come up with is retaliation for something her parent or parents, who remain unidentified, have done to cause this.

eh, i have to disagree. Twelve shots! Even with a/c and t.v you should have heard something. I still feel like the grandpa knows more than what we have been told. I am suspicious of his comment when he found the girls : "THEY" killed them (or shot them, can't remember exactly) but he did say THEY. Time will tell.

Hi ArizonaGiGi, I tend to agree with you. I think the grandfather's choice of word when telling that the girls had been shot is curious. I have thought about this alot the last few days too. If I were to find two dead girls lying in a ditch on the side of the road and one of them is my family...I would not say,"They killed them!". Is he saying subconsciously that he has an idea of who did this? Had there been some threats made against him and his family? It does make me wonder and it does raise a red flag in my mind.
I can see myself saying, "Oh My God, They are dead!" But I can not see myself saying, "THEY killed the girls!" It's almost like he knows who THEY are.

Yeah, but like another poster mentioned, why wait until she's 13 for retaliation? I think they're not mentioned because they gave up their parental rights and just didn't want her.

I've only made two posts here, but have read every single post since this happened. oceanblueeyes: You said exactly how I feel.

NOTHING WOULD EVERY MAKE THIS UNDERSTANDABLE IN MY EYES EITHER!!

I think this the hardest case in quite awhile to even try to guess what the motive could be. Really nothing that any of us have come up with makes logical sense. But then I know that murderers like this do not have the same mindset that we do here and we dont look through their evil eyes.

Gosh OSBI needs a big break in this case. Someone knows this man and imo someone may even know where he is right now and is harboring him.

There is just absolutely no rhyme or reason why any 11 year old and 13 year old would be murdered this way.

I doubt illegal sale of ciggies would cause someone to do this. Then again, I can't think of anything that would cause someone to do this so who knows what set this into motion.

I keep thinking about his clothing tho. It strikes me as odd he was wearing a long sleeved shirt on a hot dusty road. Why?

I know absolutely nothing about cooking drugs, but would you wear long sleeves to prevent splashing your skin with something maybe?

Could be he was hiding some tatoos. That's what first came to my mind.

I enlarged it too, so don't feel bad.
lol
It looks like the date is written twice.
Both look like 6-13-08 to me, but the first date is not as clear as the second date.
It's possible it was drawn a few days before it was released to the public, and I'm not seeing the date clearly.

I am guilty of using the term "They" a lot. My oldest DD often says, "Who are THEY?" So maybe it is a Southern thing. I don't find it odd or unusual he said it that way.

Haven't you ever heard the phrase, "they say"? I've used it and always think whoever "they" are. I think this was just a figure of speech. Also, due to the amount of bullets, the grandfather might have assumed it was the work of more than one. I mentioned this before, but remember Duncan? Many thought his murders were the work of more than one and used the term "they".

claudajo:

Thanks for the new google map. Wow, a big difference!!!!!!!!!

The first one had County Line Road running parallel with HWY 75, this one that you just posted the link to, doesn't even show County Line Road.

So.....hmmmmmmmmmm

I have some addresses I am working on along with names, and it gets confusing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could be, SS, but I am as southetrn as they come and I wouldn't use the word THEY shot the girls if I had been the one to find them.

I would love to hear the 911 call the grandfather made.

  • #676
My eyes are so bad I didn't even bother to try and look. LOL

OMG...SS.......now that is bad. I think I read and look at the computer screen too much. My eyesight has really gone down in the last couple of years. I hate it because I love to read and I read every post here and elsewhere on any case that I am interested in.

Saying "they" is very common for southerners. I find myself saying it even though I know better. It is more of a general term for somebody unknown.

I hate to ask you this. But can you tell me for sure that County Line Road is NOT HWY 75 by your googling?

  • #679
unfortunately there may be no other motive than... he wanted to do it and they were there

Why? Why would he feel the need to come dressed to hide his tattoos? It would make it premeditated.
