The timeline shouldn't be a problem.

They say an adult women walks at about 3 MPH. That means she can walk one mile in 20 minutes. Because these are younger girls they may walk a bit slower. The bridge is just over a half mile from the Taylor house which means the total distance the girls covered if they walked all the way to the bridge is just over 3/4 of a mile.

Just thinking out loud here.... lol

Who carries guns or would need a gun - a fugitive?

Would your general run of the mill (if there is such a thing) abductor/rapist carry a gun???

Does Weleetka have a local post office - does the post office have any "WANTED" posters up???

The guy they are looking for has a pony tail - so any of the fugitives would have to have been missing long enough to grow his hair long enough to put in a pony tail.

I am leaning more towards a thrill kill or the girls saw something and possibly said something they shouldn't have......

Re: Pony tail. If you look at the links for fugitives Hazlett and Craig, they have multiple pictures you can scroll through and it looks like the date is under each pic. Hazlett pic with pony tail has a date of 16 Apr 2008 and Craig pic with pony tail has date of 26 Nov 2007. (The first guy Donahue doesn't have multiple pics, just the one without pony tail.)

RE: Girls mouthing off.

Wouldn't you expect the older girl to be more protective? Yet, Taylor is the one described as sweet and quiet. Skyla may be more in the habit of mouthing off, but she's described as silly.

I guess my point is that neither of these girls look like the type to mouth off first to an adult, especially one they didn't know.

They may be different if confronted or if one or the other is threatened, but I don't think either one of them would shout out unprovoked to provoke another.

The escaped prisoner camping in the woods isn't a bad guess. Could be why they had the helicoptors out the other day. If you look at certain pictures (the ones with Uncle Mosher to the side) of the memorial, it looks like there are trees on the side of the road, but you can see light just past the trees, indicating more open area.

I didn't think the timeline was a problem either, but others seem to feel there is no way they could walk that distance in that time. As a kid, I moved pretty fast...usually half-jogging or sometimes running. We don't know the girls simply meandered their way there and back.

Great finds, Cloudajo! We need to make sure they haven't been caught yet, but since two were recent escapes maybe not. You never know where these guys will turn up and what they will do to keep from being caught no matter what charges they originally faced.

Thanks, but I didn't find, just pulled together. :)

Agree - fugitives might do desperate things. Just something to consider.

I didn't mean the girls mouthed off. I meant said something to him as in responded to the situation in some way. A person on crank, drunk, and out of control can be very paranoid.

I'm sorry, I was referring to others who stated throughout the thread that the girls might have mouthed off. I didn't mean to say you specifically.

Regarding the distance to the bridge, 1/2 mile IS doable at 3 MPH within 15-20 minutes. If the bridge is further, and maps seems to indicate that it was, 1.5 miles would take longer.

It's too bad that the witness who saw this POI by the white pickup w/ OK tags didn't notice the license number. Like someone else posted, I think this was an abduction gone bad. The girls smarted off to him (or them) or resisted advances earlier and they were ambushed.

Hi all, I finally have just a moment to chime in here. I too think this was an abduction gone bad. Could those poor children out of fear or, perhaps knowing the grave danger. Refused to go with the perp, or get in the vehicle. I hate to think this but, it may be possible those little angels saved themselves even more unthinkable torment by not being taken to another location.

I just don't think he is an escapee. If he is standing in the road with cars passing by then he sure wasn't afraid of being seen imo. I think he may have been tanked up on booze or drugs, maybe both and for some asinine reason he got ticked off with these girls. I don't think they mouthed off but I do think they may have ignored him altogether and that may have angered him just as much.

Murderers kill for such stupid reasons. He may have had the twisted mentality if someone dared reject him or spurned him he would show them that was the wrong thing to do.

I think the phone lines will light up tonight on AMW when they show the sketch.

imoo

after a conversation on the side & to further confuse everyone, I am tossing this into the realm of possibilities:

that area appears to be off-road heaven. the person/people who just came forward with a description of the POI, may have been riding a 4-wheeler. sunday afternoons is prime time for such activites. one could zig-zag for miles down the railroad right of way, power lines & dirt roads. & if they had come from a nearby town, that may account for the time lapse.... late realizing that the stopped truck was on the road where the murders had occurred.

in one of the 1st reports, ATV tracks were mentioned in the area where the girls were found..... & i'm sure that was not unusal at all. also, where i live, people often ride the off roaders to visit neighbors.

Timeline again.

I reread the article and it says Authorities were notified at 5:40 p.m. I originally thought that this meant the 911 call occurred then, but now I am thinking that is when 911 people contacted the sheriff's department to go to the scene.

4:55 - 5:00 Girls leave house. (assumed)
5:08 - 5:10 Skyla's mother calls (reported in interview)
5:13 - 5:25 Sometime in this time frame, Grandfather attempts to call girls to tell them to return (assumed)
5:10 - 5:25 Witnesses reported seeing girls walking and the suspicious person (don't know if they are the same witness or two different ones) (assumed since girls are seen alive)
5:20 - 5:25 Assumed time of death (reports say sexual assault unlikely because whole event takes place in 20-25 minutes)
5:25 - 5:30 Grandfather leaves on foot to look for girls (assumption because he is going north toward the girls and doesn't see white pickup in the road (not reported at least,) so murder has already occurred)
5:30 - Grandfather finds girls, calls 911
5:40 Sheriff's office contacted
Past 5:30 is when Skyla's mother arrives.

From all the witnesses and articles, it seems they have a pretty good timeline of when all this occurred, but they haven't released it yet. There's a reason for that: either because it will help them catch the suspect, or they are protecting witnesses.

It sounds like the witness who either saw the girls or who helped with the sketch can be easily identified if certain things are released (due to schedule, etc.) and/or they live REALLY close by.

Not meaning to redirect the focus, I just wanted to bring up the fact that one parent said one of the girls was interested in forensics. Is it possible the girls were doing a little sleuthing on their own. Perhaps these guys/guy had enough.
Heading out to work, I work we have some progress today.

Yes, Taylor wanted to become a CSI, I think. It could be they were snooping around, but I think the timeline might not allow for much investigation on their part.

They frequented that trail, maybe the guy/guys saw them coming and decided to put a stop to it. Someone just stopping out of the blue and shooting two kids just doesn't make sense. There had to a reason.

Thank you. Interesting read about his time on the run.

Thanks SS - will be tuning in............... You would think though if they had any really serious leads they wouldn't be having this televised.............
