Small Details that are interesting in the Cooper Harris case, #1

I originally thought the statement "I dreaded how he would look" was really incriminating, but I have changed my mind. When one of my kids falls and hits her head/face, I have a few seconds of terror between the fall, and when I am able to look at her face with the hair out of the way. I always imagine a broken tooth or cut to the eye. Something horrific, and it scares the crap out of me.

If I were driving, and just realized I left my kid in the car for 7.5 hours, I would be filled with dread between the time I saw the top of his head, and the time I pulled over and got to my child.

As a parent. I would think you would be in denial and think maybe he could be OK. After all, the child was rear facing, not looking at RH.

And if RH could easily forget CH in the morning, RH could easily think he picked CH up. A different kind of false memory. Why jump to the worst conclusion?

I don't know any of the police officers/detectives involved, but I have lived in the South (Marietta, GA) and I saw how touchy people get about things that don't meet their religious expectations. I am afraid that the whole sexting issue may be clouding this tragedy... I'm sure they have other evidence that hasn't been released yet, but I can't help but think that this testimony is slanted towards morals. I have a problem with the choices made by RH in the morality department--but sex, 🤬🤬🤬🤬, sexting, etc., etc., has grabbed a hold of many married men so I don't think it has any bearing on this case at all--he's just another number when it comes to that. We don't need cops who are out of touch with reality and think they can pin murder charges on people who have different values than they do. So, until additional evidence is released....JMHO

I applaud police for releasing the amount of information they have released. I don't need more information to form an opinion the guy is a monster who didn't deserve bail.

I'm not particularly religious but I do get quite touchy when a grown man harms kids. Harris texted sexually explicit messages to an under age girl. That's illegal. She is somebody else's child. She is another victim. He needs to stay locked up and away from the ability to troll for other girls. It has nothing to do with cops trying to take some kind of personal morality stance. I think the public was entitled to know the accused was not the upstanding character his supporters made him out to be in order to gather donations.

The defense had the opportunity to dispute everything the detective said. One thing he wasn't confused about was the fact an innocent child not only baked to death in a car, he suffered terribly in an illegal car seat that his father never bothered to adjust properly.

I'm thinking possibly the thought process was somehow interrupted when leaving CFA... I don't think whatever RH did the rest of the day caused him to continue to forget...I think it's a more complex issue that involves the brain's cognitive processes--momentary distractions and how they're processed. There's been a lot of research on this phenomenon as it relates to cell phone use while driving--I read about a woman driving while talking on a cell phone who went through a red light that she was looking right at--but did not "see".

So far, I don't think this happened because RH put the baby as his last priority--I think that driving should have been his first priority at the time he left CFA, but I'm guessing it wasn't and that's what led to the final outcome of his actions that day. But, lack of information makes this nothing more than a theory that I have chosen to ride with.

I guess I see what you are getting at, but I really think [modsnip] knew full well he was murdering his "lil buddy" by cooking him to death in a horrific manner.

There is not cognitive disconnect there, other than egocentric azzholism. Which I definitely believe [modsnip] "suffered" from. Funny how he hates people who abort unborn babies but he is fine with cruelly murdering his already-born baby boy. This guy is a piece of pond scum.

Frankly, I'm more than a little stunned so many are falling over themselves to take the word of an accused murderers family member as gospel. With Zero evidence.

Shaking my head.

Im open to the possibility, SHOW ME!
Roll that video footage with a stop watch ticking...

Until I see it...ALL my faith is with the detective that was simply doing his sworn duty.

Actually, this information came from someone else other than the family member who happens to be a veteran police officer himself. The Atlanta Journal Constitution reviewed the surveillance camera video tape and transcript.

No way do I believe the AJC would make these statements and print this article if the info. wasn't true.

But a review by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution of some of the state’s evidence shows authorities may have overstated some of their case during the July 3 hearing. A close review by the AJC of video from a surveillance camera at the Home Depot office complex where Harris worked revealed discrepancies — some striking — with assertions made by Detective Phil Stoddard on the witness stand.

In addition, an exclusive interview with Harris’ brother, Michael Baygents, and a review of the transcript of the three-hour hearing reveal an emerging counter-narrative to the damning story about Harris that swayed public opinion. For instance, a thorough reading of the transcript suggests that prosecutors may have created a false impression by claiming that he searched the Internet for information about children and pets dying in hot cars.

O/T My neighbor called the cops on my son and his friends a few years ago. They were outside at the firepit drinking "wine" and throwing the cans in the fire.
Yep! The boys in blue showed up and knocked on my door.
I straight up laughed at them and told them to go back to school. Cheer"wine" is soda not booze.
Yeah, lucky me I have "that neighbor" across the street.
You'd think after a few years they would figure out that she is full of it!

Georgia hasn't always had Cheerwine on the shelf...

It was a Carolina thing and I had my friends bring me some everytime they went.

on topic: I just wanted what I couldn't have. Now that it's here I hardly ever drink it,
I got over my addiction.
I quit smoking too.

I know sex addiction is supposed to be real... I don't get it.
lol and that's just fine with me!

The word I would use to describe RH is hypocrite.
Or heathen if ya asked my grandmother.

Totally JMO, but I think he was researching prison about the underage girl and their relations. I don't think he EVER thought he would be arrested for Cooper.

Thank you for the correction. JRH was searching for age of consent laws in GA and not for surviving prison life.

What did he think would happen during those six minutes when he was avoiding LE who had asked him once to drop the call and come speak to them yet he chose to refuse? That is brazen behavior toward sworn officers during an emergency situation.

When JRH was asked the second time to drop his call, instead of complying, he cursed at the officer. Hence, his cell phone was taken away and he was placed into handcuffs and left alone in the back of a patrol car. Wouldn't he expect to be arrested if he refused to cooperate; or if he refused to obey orders from officers responding to an emergency regarding the hot car death of his son?

Did the AJC actually state that the reporters had seen the video or were the AJC reporters just reporting what the brother said? I have not been clear on that.

That was what RH said...Stoddard testified that he didn't know the start time of the texts.

So if he was in the car for 15 seconds when it stopped, there would not be time to text, get his electronic stuff and get out of the car, I feel

Many people are in jail/prison because of LE lies...unfortunately. I believe it to be rampant---well, that might be a little strong, but it's definitely not uncommon.

I think the majority of people are in prison because they are guilty. I've seen no evidence the detective intentionally lied to the court in this case. It was a hearing and the defense did have the opportunity to dispute anything stated.

In the current media card game the ajc did a predictable cya from the not so veiled threat of a defamation lawsuit. But as – y'all – :p have pointed out, the points covered were insignificant as opposed to the pertinent evidence. All the evidence will come out in the trial.

So what we have here is a family member defending RH by way of addressing subjective observations while ignoring the indefensible such as the too small car seat, the cramped interior of the SUV and so on. Big deal. I'm waiting to hear other evidence, like the state of RH's marriage which I believe will be a factor. And the real, formally documented state of his finances.

While it seems that the threat of bringing in L. Lin Wood served to scare some of the media, that won't last too long. At least now we have RH's brother yakking to the press and we might even see more information leaked in the next few weeks. More stuff for us to discuss!

Somewhere on one of these threads, I posted that I was beginning to doubt some of Det. Stoddard's testimony. I posted it about a week ago, and I got somewhat slammed for saying that. I said I wanted to see those videos for myself, and some posters were adamantly opposed to thinking that Det. Stoddard might not be telling the truth. Well, well, well....seems he was not. This latest news makes me doubt a whole lot more of what he testified to. I still want to see that video where LH was said to have asked RH, "Did you say too much?" before I would swear on the Bible that's what she said. MOO

Is there evidence Detective Stoddard intentionally lied about the 15 seconds? Perhaps he simply "forgot".....

Me too! lol
By certain family members definition (and proud of it)
I do not pretend to be a Holy Roller, and I do not show up at Church hung over. (like some people do)

IMO
Say what cha mean and
Mean what cha say.

I am shocked at the number of peope that fell for RH and his scam of being so ????
Righteous?
Moral?
Soccer dad ish?

He is a creepy dude and was doing his deeds among them.
That gives me the goosebumps.

He's been coddled by mommy and big bro the cop.
In their eyes he can do no wrong.
In Cooper's eyes he was very wrong. Dead wrong. Leanna is lucky she is still breathing IMO.

Agreed. I had exactly one of these moments with my 6-year-old today when she fell off her skateboard. I dreaded seeing her knees; it was such an awful heavy panicked feeling.

That would be highly inappropriate. In such a case, he should say "I forgot". Giving an untruthful remark discredits a witness. In this case, Det. Stoddard is a very important witness whom the state cannot afford to have discredited.

Magnolia, I appreciate your position -- completely. I'm one of those, "Gosh, but if he's innocent, I will feel SO BAD for picking on him" types of people... so we got that out of the way, and that being said...

Rootie tootie for AJC & MB -- MB gets to defend little brother, and AJC gets to try to be FOX News -- "fair and balanced" -- in whatever context one wishes to see it...

They have an entire list of arguments, but when it gets right down to what a jury is going to find worthy of defending this man of "forgetting" his 22 month old son in the car is scant, IMO.

They want to set a stopwatch to time estimates given by Stoddard.. IMO, 15 seconds is still long enough to HEAR or SEE or THINK ABOUT your 22 month old child that you just strapped into the backseat moments ago at CFA...

They want to dispute Stoddard's interpretation of RH's body language during lunch time -- NONETHELESS, he did toss in his car light bulbs (I'll just stipulate that's totally harmless) but did so in a way that he did not notice CH... and "poked at" his cell phone prior to re-entering the building... after finding out he didn't receive a desired promotion... while knowing he wasn't putting in a full work day... iow, lack of a sense of responsibility/work ethic on his part -- work definitely wasn't keeping him from arriving late, taking a normal lunch, "poking at" his phone prior to clocking back in... etc, etc..

So we want to play semantics with the internet searches -- point being, internet searches were made -- should have made CH a permanent fixture on the frontal lobes of Mom & Dad... he didn't leave HIS shoe in the backseat, did he?

At worst... GROSSLY negligent
At best... PREMEDITATED murder

We also found out about a cruise with waterslides for a 2 yo that isn't allowed in any of the pool areas per health dept regulations on Carnival Cruises.
AND
A cup from breakfast with his "buddy" That yet again didn't spark a memory.

And verification about who he talked to about ins $.
RH knew HD would pay for the funeral. I am ceratin he.had seen it before between his time imterning and his 2 years of employment.
We know he just wanted his bro to get the $ so it will be there for bail.

Whoa, I had not heard about this part:

"prosecutors may have created a false impression by claiming that he searched the Internet for information about children and pets dying in hot cars."

More cute pics of Cooper on Justice FB site. Apparently someone there has access to family as FB friends and they have agreed to these photos being used?
