New perfume gives a blast of nostalgia we didn't know we needed

Yell has announced the launch of its Eau de Yellow Pages fragrance which it says is a ‘timeless and familiar scent created to transport the mind and the senses to a time when the iconic yellow book was a mainstay of homes up and down the country’.

The Yellow Pages didn't have any scent

Yes it does have a smell. Of paper and printers ink.

We still get it, though being a country town, we get the white pages and yellow pages in the same book.

Each year it gets thinner and thinner.

I have always prided myself on my strong olfactory sense.

Hubby can't smell a thing. I've always been his nose.

I guess it's busted. I don't have the strongest olfactory sense...Sad...:D

Our Yellow Pages Books were used as Booster seats at the big table. Ahh, Memories

Disclaimer: Since my proclamation of said use of " The Book", I hearby state unequivocally that I never smelled the book.

I remember years ago I couldn't get to sleep because of a smell, that gave me a headache.
It took me awhile to figure out what it was.

I finally traced it to a basket that had a few days worth of the latest newspapers.

Once I moved the papers out of the room I was fine.

The only paper I get sometimes these days is a free local one and no headache from that.

To me the smell of the yellow/white pages is not an unpleasant one. It has a sweetish scent that doesnt last that long.

I think it's more likely that there was no scent from your yellow pages.
Or maybe it's the time of year they're delivered.

Ours are delivered at the beginning of the year, the height of summer and they are thrown in front of your house.
Mine usually ends up on the verandah and could be there for awhile, so they get hot and that enhances the scent.

Our's would also come at the end of summer - September....
