How one kitten saved a Farmington Hills family of 4 from carbon monoxide poisoning

A 4-month-old kitten saved a Farmington Hills couple and their two children from carbon monoxide that was silently spreading through their home in the middle of the night.

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – A 4-month-old kitten saved a Farmington Hills couple and their two children from carbon monoxide that was silently spreading through their home in the middle of the night.

On Aug. 30, the home of Heidi and Ronald Stamper lost power due to a storm, so they used a portable generator in their garage to keep some of their appliances running.

Before the couple and their two children -- 13-year-old Paige and 11-year-old Quinn -- went to sleep, the garage door accidentally got closed while the generator was on.

As a result, the family became exposed to deadly carbon monoxide gas while they slept, officials said...

I saw this on the news yesterday. What a good kitty! The kitten, Thor, yowled and complained when the carbon monoxide made him sick, waking up family members. The family didn't have a carbon monoxide detector, but they do now, and they know not to use a generator in the garage.

The story was featured on Inside Edition yesterday, but it was covered by local media outlets a few days ago. Family is lucky to have the kitty :) Hero Kitten Named Thor Saves Family’s Lives

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI - The tallest living domestic cat in the entire world resides in Michigan and we’re not kitten around when we say that. Fenrir is featured in the 2023 Guinness Book of World Records which just came out in stores and online.

The Savannah cat measured a whopping 47.83 cm (18.83 in) in January 2021 when Guinness confirmed his height and even though he is a descendant of a wild feline, Fenrir is still tall for his breed, standing two inches taller than average-sized Savannah cats.

Fenrir belongs to Board-certified family physician and HIV specialist Dr. Will Powers of Farmington Hills, who also specializes in the care of the LGBTQ population. Fenrir is actually a therapy cat at the doctor’s office helping calm and ease HIV patients...

Wow, Fenrir is a big cat! I wonder what he weighs. Savannah cats are a cross between a serval cat and a domestic cat. I've never seen a Savannah cat, but I've seen serval cats at zoos and at Carolina Tiger Rescue.
