It's a sewing machine. I still have one but haven't used it for more than 20 years. My sewing machine is in a soft tapestry fabric case. I used to do quite a bit of sewing years ago - mostly ballet costumes for DD.

I have one here too - was my Mamma's. She did most of our clothes! She knew how to sew! :)
