The first two are the Santiago Fire from my street and the last one is the smoke over Laguna Beach from my backyard. I can't believe the Santiago Canyonm fire looks so close to me.

That's a lot of smoke KrisNine. Is the wind blowing your way from the fire?

The wind is not too bad tonight, but the smoke is coming in from both San Diego, Camp Pendleton and Santiago fires. It was so hot here and the smoke was just hanging in the air.

Ok we went all the way to pendleton ad it is raging

Seriously?? I can't believe this! Jelly, please stay safe.

Fire tends to follow smoke- the same wind that drives the smoke your way will also drive the fire. Even a small wind will make a difference.

JB get off that road! Please!

You have heard the same stories I have about people on the road and the fire whipped around trapped them. So please!

Hi everyone,

I work in Foothill Ranch (also known as the Irvine fire, or the Orange County fire - although there are many more Orange county fires now...)

Our office is located in a large warehouse, with office space on both ends. We evacuated voluntarily yesterday and today, at about 3 PM PDT, we witnessed what some of my co-workers are calling an explosion.

There have been several fires coming toward us for two days, but we figured there is quite a bit of cement (as in other buildings, we are in the industrial park) between us and the fires. Except, suddenly, one of the fires reached the ridge, a wind blew it down the front side, and the brush just exploded.

Suddenly a bull horn sounded, fire trucks were coming from all directions, and all buildings were evacuating. You should have seen the traffic jam!

Anyway, I took a couple of pictures from my office window, as well as a few looking down the street, and some of the sky throughout the day. I don't have time to figure out my pic hosting userID/password, so if anyone wants to host these for me, send me an e-mail address and I'll forward them.

I have to triple check and prepare to enact parts of our systems disaster recovery program, so I'll be very busy tonight and can't hang out with you guys.

Thank you to those who PM'd me. My home appears to have made it...so far... and I'll know more about my office building as the hours pass.

Thoughts and best wishes to all WS friends affected by these fires. :blowkiss:

You're so right about that. I'm keeping an eye out and getting my pets, papers, pictures and computers ready to go.

Hang in there everyone!!

Duh - I didn't realize I could upload pics to WS.

A colleague and I took these pictures from the office just a few hours ago - before evacuating.

The last one is especially eerie to me. Full sunny day, yet the sky was so dark.

JB, I hope that means you are headed back home.

KrisNine- good thinking.

Mesnowmom123- glad you evacuated early! pm to you

mesnowmom those pictures are incredible.
I just got back.Trying to post on my blackberry while my dh drives is not easy.
OKay the Pendleton fire is raging it is bright yellow and black smoke incredible.,
Because of the CA terrain from most viewpoints it APPEARS as though the fire is right in my backyard, but it is on the other side of San Clemente.
WE went all the way to Pendleton and we could see it.

I have been hearing the news broadcasts, and knew there was a lot to be concerned about. But those pictures are scary!

thank you mysteriew..I stayed safe promise.

JBean it doesn't seem like you were gone that long. How many miles is that? (And I am so glad you are back home) BTW, did you happen to take any pics while you were out?

People are really pulling together here. Everyone is pitching in and trying to help evacuees with places to stay and places to board their pets, horses, livestock, etc. In this tragedy, that's pretty good.

In a mass disaster one of two things will happen. Some people will be incredibly brave and generous. Or they will use the disaster to try to profit from it in some way. Stay safe.
