well I am going to leave my office. I see the smoke that Krisnine was talking about and it is closer than it was before. i do not think I am in any kind of danger at all, I just don;t know exactly what is happening out there.
Cya later heading home.

I should fire myself based on the amount of work I got done today.

Love Mama hasn't been on all day,I don't think. I hope she is okay.

They were just talking about how bad the air quality is,even if you aren't directly affected by the fire. The smoke and all the crap thats in it, is really bad. One newscaster had to leave the area he was in because he was having trouble breathing.

I might have her number at home. I'll call her if I do.

Jbean, have you been able to find out what the smoke is coming from? Still no verification on any website.

JBean, the winds are dying down, still occasional gusts though. Hopefully the wind will continue to quiet down, and the crews can make good progress.

Yeah, but the firefighters are human, and they got into this in part to save lives. I suspect they just couldn't walk away - especially with the teenager there.

Now that - OK, if you're an adult, risk your own life. If you have a kid with you, and they spot that, I think the kid should be whisked off to safety by the police, fire, whoever.

Sounds fair to me, Details. I'm all for removing minors from danger regardless of what their parents think.

I agree that no house is worth a human life, but isn't that basically why wars are fought? Some people identify sufficiently with their home that it DOES become worth their life.

That's a good point, Nova. I should have amended what I said to include..."stuff is not worth a life when nature is on the rampage!"

I just heard that. ALso the winds are shifting to the West. KFI had a live report of the Flume of smoke near Running springs saying the smoke was up to 18,000 feet.
Looking awful down here, the ash is finally reaching us.

I had to go pick up some RX's and looking North all the smoke is be driven West like you said going across Cajon Pass.

I hope Jelly posts as soon as she is home. Gosh I am so worried for you guys!!

Husband is a FEMA housing inspector and is required to be in San Diego for mandatory briefing tomorrow....help is on the way for those who lost thier homes or had homes damaged!!

Yes, Chertoff is already out here and said that.

I can't imagine how scary it is being there after seeing the horrific news photos and stories. I hope all of our members stay safe and realize life is the only thing unable to be replaced. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I do understand the people who want to save their homes, but when you risk your children, the firemen, and others to do so...it becomes a selfish and dangerous act. I believe that LE should have the right to step in and effectively arrest or detain anyone refusing to leave. The people obviously are not thinking correctly in the stressful situation and need to be removed for their own safety and the safety of others.

Is any of this fire spreading into Mexico? I would think they are experiencing the same conditions. Haven't heard anything about that.God forbid it spread into Tijuana, with some of those structures, seems to me it would ignite the whole city in seconds.
National news is all over the story now. Its about time.

Nope, no fires in Mexico HM. The big one we have here now started at the Mexican Border but winds blew it up here. No kidding, I've shot (photographed) in Tijuana during a big fire they had downtown and you would just die.........Every fireman has different uniforms, their hydrant's leak.........it's a mess. That whole town could go up in fire.

Love Mama,
Glad to see your post. Got a little nervous when you weren't on most of the day.

I can only imagine Tijuana in a crisis. It would be mass destruction.
Funny even the fire doesn't want to live there!!!

Thanks for the info kayceebee!

The two Bulldozers working a ridge of fire are making me tear........
They are going back and forth along a fire line. Risking their lives, fire along side of them. It could in an instant jump that ridge and
come right at them..........
Between the water from above and their great work........
They should be so proud. I'd so love to hug them!!!
Everyone in the state of California is doing a great job.
A great example for us all............

I am home. I still do not know exactly where this smoke is coming from. But I am not in any danger whatsoever.

I did hear that the one Santa Clarita death that was confirmed earlier has been rescinded. The coroners office says no one from the Santa Clarita fire has died only some in critical condition.
But I think 4 or 5 have died in san Diego.
Back later I am going to go snoop around town.

I think you mean La Jolla reservation, not the town of La Jolla within San Diego.

Although I don't think she has posted, so I hope she is safe.

Hi BirdieBoo! Your right, that La Jolla Indian reservation is far from where I live. I'm right near the ocean. Talked to Tom'sGirl and she told me poster's think I may be in harms way which might have been right cause I was at the overpriced dumb Longs Drugstore!
THen........
across the street to Dick's Liquor store to get the racing form for my daughter Annie who's having a baby in two days. Swear, she's determined to handicap the Breeder's Cup on Saturday. There's a horse running , a little filly named "Grace Anatomy" (you know, like Gray's Anatomy)........and they are naming their new baby Grace. Annie has already placed some bet's her!

These fires are something else. I've even heard that people are driving near them to take photos.......how dumb can you get! The fireman, the cops, those guys that drop water, how scarry is that!

I don't know if I ever posted it but last year there was a small fire, about 4 or 5 acres behind my daughter's house in Warner Springs. They lost of a lot wonderful big oak trees but fireman got foam sprayed on their house. Luckily their house didn't burn but they did lose a couple of storage sheds
which were only about 15 ft or or from their house. Those firemen worked so hard, they just laid down in the back of the property and tried to sleep!
After all the fire was finally put out, they kept a couple of engines in area for about 3 days.

When we left to come home there were engines lining the street and my daughter Annie was yelling.......YEA YEA......way to go. THANKS SO MUCH!
WE LOVE YOU ALL! They really appreciated the kudos! (course they probably thought Annie was kinda cute too! LOL

xxxxxxoooooo
