It's such a shame not to be supported by friends and family for your choice of sexuality. If my children were gay I would not give a care in the world as long as they were happy, and contributed to society as well balanced and caring human beings. A little off topic - working in the aviation industry for decades I have met my fair share of gay/bi work mates - all of whom I have adored. To go one step further I offered a home to one of our Captains who decided that he wanted to be a women - and was going through the transition process. So, so hard in this particular industry. I offered him a place to stay for several months while he was going through these procedures. He/she was amazing and resumed a stellar flying career, and respected by the majority. My children were early teens at that stage and also adopted great respect for him/her.
Pity isn't it - I am sure there would be less murders, assault, honour killings if we could accept others for their own choices.
