TP criticizes where Botha says the hired vehicle drove past Jayde's residence. Says lots of people lived in Stellen Glen

[I bet lots of people who live in Stellen Glen don't have a tracking device in their car]

TP says on Botha's own evidence, the hired vehicle was scouting the area. "This could have been a crime of opportunity"

Botha disagrees. "We know the details of Jayde's vehicle was communicated." TP: But we know SV committed a robbery in Walmer (another case)

TP says SV was known for jamming people's locks on their vehicles in the Makro area

Who told you SV lived in KwaNobuhle?
"When I came to PE for the 1st time, I asked Swanepoel to take me to the various points"

TP says SV indicated on the vehicle rental form that he lived in Newton Park.

TP says unfortunately SV has died. There is no direct evidence as to who grabbed Jayde & how many people were in the car

Botha responds that the only other explanation is then that the person staying in KwaNobuhle drove a car rented by SV & used his phone

Botha says in Oct 2015, she accompanied Swanepoel to Humewood police station to interview LS. TP is surprised at this

Was LS's attorney present?
"No".
So Swanepoel spoke to LS without an attorney present?
"I was under the impression LS was a state witness"

TP says regardless, he still had an attorney

TP says if they discussed the case without an attorney, their actions were illegal

TP says the only reason CP went to OK the night of Jayde's disappearance was to fetch snacks & drinks for the search team

He then fetched LS to point out ATMs where Jayde's card was used

TP says if these facts correct, then any smell of wrongdoing flies out the window. "I would agree if stopped there but LS then phoned SV"

Botha says she had a hypothesis (state's version) to work from when compiling the data

Why did you state CP was not in area when calls were made?
"I looked at possibility of CP making those calls & found it to be inconsistent"

MS stands up to ask a question.

I've never heard of this sort of behaviour from counsel, ever.

Me neither, and he accuses everyone else of unprofessionalism. What a jerk.

"I measure things to fact." Botha says she only put in report what she found. If SV was abroad at time, that's what she would have stated

TP insists Botha stuck to a false hypothesis

Botha says it makes sense SV didn't go straight to LS to fetch money after call if LS was with CP. Makes sense he only went to him later

TP asks what she means portfolio that she testified successfully in numerous cases.
"I mean my evidence was accepted as correct by judge"

TP asks for an adjournment to consult with his expert witness before further cross-exam. Court adjourns until 9:30am tomorrow

Botha’s an excellent witness. She’s remained calm and dignified under hours of sustained pressure and hasn’t buckled at all. I suspect she has a great sense of humour that is dying to escape.

I can't help thinking that CP's family must be thinking they are throwing their money away paying Price to waffle on and on with his nit picking line of questioning.

Yes. I couldn't understand much of what was said but the transcript made everything very clear.

There really seems little point going on with the case but I guess Price will spend a great deal of time arguing worthless points. Sounds familiar does it not?
