Emmett says large sums of money would not have been left in store room as there was too much access

Mawonga told us CP used his phone at some stage. He then left. I then went out for a smoke & Mawonga approached me, said they going to pay

Emmett says this was a normal reaction for someone who had just been fired. Didn't take much notice

On night of 21 April 2015, they went to Njoli Square. There was a white Golf there. Believe it belonged to CP

CP introduced LS to him. CP offered us something to drink & eat and torches. Took it out of the boot. He collected the stuff from OK

Next day was there when Jayde's body found. When I saw CP his eyes were red (from crying). MS has no questions

First witness for defence Advocate Selwyn Gounden from DPP in Grahastown

SG was involved in entrapment procedures (Sting operation) but not authorisation thereof.

Price will deal with allegations from State that SG was phoned twice to get permission/consent/guidelines

SG has no knowledge and did not have authority at time. SG made it very clear to Stander that he did not give consent

No further questions. Stander wants advocate to stand down for now because he was not informed about witnesses

Stander prepared for two other witnesses. But he will cross-examine this advocate. He will be ready tomorrow

Stander needs documents before he can cross. Price does not accept this. Says Stander did consult with advocate

Price: Nothing this witness said should be a surprise to Stander

Price says this is an attempt to attack witness and discredit him. Witness stands down to tomorrow

Next witness Anthony Emmet (AE) he is not related to family-although some thinks he is an uncle

He works as Operations Manager for OK Franchise in EC and that is how he got to know family.

AE asked to explain how money is cashed up. He says it is not possible for money to leave premises without record

AE talks about dropsafes, what each cashier has to do during cash-up. His duty to help franchise in all aspects of business

Price asks if it would have been possible for a moneybag with lots of casg to lie around. AE says it is not

Price asks AE if he watched video used to fire Mawonga( he stole alcohol) . Says Mawonga was hiding behind crates

Mawonga also removed tag from bottel. (Mawonga testified that he wanted to be cought to get fired)

AE asked about Coutts telling Mawonga he was fired after hearing. He was called in as there were 2 females in office

AE says Mawonga laughed when fired and signed documents for dismissal. Mawonga asked AE to leave office

He wanted to speak to Mrs P alone. She wanted AE to stay. This is where Mawonga told Mrs P about cellphone

AE was smoking in parking lot. Mawonga approached him and said : They will pay

AE says Mawonga wanted R100 000 or he will take phone to cops. They decided to ignore as there was no merit

AE asked about day Jayde`s body was found. Bekker testified that Chris showed no emotion

AE says that is not true. Chris was distraught and cried when Jayde was positively identified. Stander to cross

Stander asks about stock leaving store, what would happen if a manager takes something. AE says a shortage will be noticed

Stander asks AE`s memory on day Mawonga was fired. AE asked to recall what he saw on video

AE saw him in fridge and how he disposed of tag-which he removed with screwdriver. Then gave bottle to a woman

AE did not watch any further. Stander says Mawonga testified that this woman paid him for the bottle.

AE says he was not interested in rest of video. He does not see reason why. Outcome was done

Stander questions how AE could have missed money being handed over. he again says he was not interested in rest of video

stander now asks about day in office when Mawonga was fired. Stander asks if AE had some more interest now

AE cant recall Mrs P drinking a glass of water (as testified by Mawonga).

AE says Mawonga was arrogant, smiling and giggling and asked to speak to Mrs P and Chanelle alone.

Mrs P asked AE to stay. Stander: why? AE: I was representative of OK

Stander wants to know Mawonga`s FIRST word when AE said he was staying. He immediately talked about phone

Stander says Mawonga testified: I am going to tell you something once (to Mrs P) and you must listen

AE again says he was not interested, that is why he cant recall exact conversation. Lack of interest.

Stander wants to know more about what Mawonga said about phone.( AE and Mawonga`s versions differ)

Stander asks why AE is testifying, did he not tell Price he has a bad memory?

AE did not know what Mawonga meant with: they are going to pay. He did not ask what he meant

AE did not take it seriously most people who are fired are upset. Mawonga gave 5 hours to pay R150 000 (not 100 000 )

AE did not take him seriously and also did not find out who he was refering to. AE says Mawonga called Mrs P mamma

AE saw Chris on 1 April at OK does not know time-during day. Stander asks if it was am/pm? AE does not know

AE invited Chris to his Bday braai on 5th at house in Lorraine. jayde also invited but did not come

AE cant recall times of Chris arriving. Was an afternoon braai, late. Stander insists on times.

AE says then maybe Chris did not have his phone. Chris came alone. Stander says evidence of R150 000 is incorrect

Next witness Maurizio Bertolani.(MB) (he has been at court every single day -he is family)

MB helped searching for Jayde. His cousing, two cops and some others. He was also at Njoli square

MB drove his black bakkie to Njoli square. Upon arrival there was a white golf with 2 occupents. Car belonged to Chris

MB says Chris was with Siyoni. Chris offered them something to eat and drink and that they needed a torch

MB says goods in boot, Chris got it at OK. they then went to fetch Jayde`s dad. MB was also present when body was found

MB says Chris was tearful eyes were red. Stander has not questions. Price currently talking to a phone expert in US

Price also wants a State witness recalled to put one question to her. Says he will also call Chanelle Coutts but not today

O/T Just ducked over to van Breda.

Advocate Pieter Botha has informed Judge Siraj Desai that triple murder accused Henri Van Breda has decided not to testify, following the dismissal of the defence's application to allow Van Breda to testify last in the case underway at the Western Cape High Court.

How great is that!!!!!! Would love to have seen him torn apart on the stand. Galloway wouldn't be up to it though.
