Botha holds axe and knife - axe facing toward him; knife held at blade, also pointing at him.

Does it fit in with the print?

Olifant does not want to speculate. Olifant says 3 prints found on knife, 2 unidentifiable.

At top of blade, smeared print. Another further down.

Botha says the domestic worker let herself in at the side gate that Monday morning, 26 Jan.

Were her fingerprints found?

No.

As far as Galloway is concerned, the lights are on and no-one's home.

I'm having such a hissy fit here I can hardly type.

Same here, JJ! It's like she doesn't want to know there's a trial going on. Can't see the state winning if this continues.

Oh my - which experts?

Mods, please note:

I've noticed that several of my news24 links aren't working, and yet they're being copied and pasted from the address bar. I have no idea how this can happen. ALL my posts containing text from the live news feed are from news24.

Leach JA - half of this trial has not been televised; would it be fair for other half to now be televised? Unfair to accused? #VanBredaMedia

We are back.

Next witness - Dr Marianne Tiemensma.

She is medical specialist. She is employed at the Clinical Forensic Unit at Victoria Hospital . Her expertise include pathology.

Dr Tiemensma was asked by SAPS and Dr Albertse to examine Henri's injuries.

Knife was also shown to her. She compiled reports on her findings of Henri's injuries.

Two reports: one 12 Feb '15, and another 10 March '15.

Dr Tiemensma: The cut marks were superficial.

Incisions have even depth, parallel and avoid sensitive areas like nipples.

The forearm wounds in keeping with self inflicted injuries, non lethal, even depth.

Injuries in reachable areas.

Thorax and abdomen look different, look caused by stabbing action; also superficial.

Head injuries blunt force, skin in tact. All superficial, non-fatal.

photographs were given to her to form an opinion on wounds
the knife was shown to Dr Marianne
After considering all the info you compiled a report on your findings on the injuries
two different reports one in feb one in march 2015

Summarise- given injuries sustained Dr Albertse categorized them as thorax head back and legs
What was your opinion? go through your report
cuts are superficial and non-fatal - parallel regular
Dr Marianne concludes that the wounds were self inflicted

wounds to the head, above eye blunt force trauma unlikely to be self inflicted
wounds to the back scratches abrasions, not self inflicted

Judging shape and size of knife, it was virtually impossible for the knife to have been stuck in any of the stab wounds.

On the stab wounds: I am of the opinion that they are self inflicted, superficial and non fatal.

In stark contrast to the rest of the injuries sustained.

Wounds to the head, swelling and bruise on eye, could be caused by a blow to face or fall. Unlikely self inflicted.

Wounds to back - blunt force and unlikely to be self inflicted.

YES! More witnesses like this please.

Knife would not have stayed in him.

SG - so you categorize chest and left forearm which in your opinion is consistent with self inflicted
The face back and right leg unlikely to be self inflicted
SG- the wounds to the head you said it could have been a blow to the face or a fall - yes
