He was triaged, and brought him to me. He conversed casually with staff, she recalled. Not emotional. Pain scale - 7/10.

She didn't prescribe pain medication.

[poor diddums]

Emotional status was he appeared calm. Dr Van Zyl noted that he appeared confident, answered questions with one word answers.

Botha says Henri tells him the policeman who saw him that morning described him as very traumatised.

Albertse says he was very quiet. He was questioned by police, released and meet with family and friends, who say he was very emotional and teary.

Botha says he was traumatised until he went to the hospital.

It's quite something when you have to tell and remind witnesses Henri was traumatised.

Botha asking dr about her interaction and instructions from police. dr explains she wrote reports on her own. Botha goes back to report which states that Henri was calm & confident the 1st time she saw him.

Dr states that she wouldn't have written calm & confident if he wasn't (this was the first time she saw Henri)
the second time Dr saw him, he was agitated and answered questions in a monotonous tone.

This will be Botha's battle cry, 'He was a traumatised BOY!' We're all the monsters! Puhlease!

When she noted his demeanor, it was after police had informed her he was a possible suspect. He was brought in by the officers at 21:45.

Her report was collected by police the next day.

James Reade-Jahn had accompanied him to the hospital the first time.

Botha says Mrs Reade-Jahn had given him a transquiliser after he left the first time.

Dr states that there was a smell of alcohol on his breath. Apparently, Botha says, this is from wine they drank night before.
Botha states earlier in trial that there was NO drugs and alcohol in Henris system according to blood report.
however, now Botha states that Henris alcohol breath the Dr reported could be from wine he drank the night before.
Judge asks about alcohol reports. Dr states she asked Henri questions(date, time, etc) along with taking his blood. Sent all to lab.

Botha asks about brain damage. Dr asked questions, tested eyes, inner ear, nystagmus test-there was no sign of serious head injury.
Botha now refers to swelling around eye - Dr points to L brow & cheek as the location of Henri's swelling.

Botha is done with witness.
Dr steps down from witness stand.

Defence states they do not have another witness today.Court adjourned till tomorrow morning.Join me tomorrow at 10am.

So he was jovial on the first visit after having had a tranquiliser, but calm, confident, not emotional and conversed with staff on the second visit. How could anyone be jovial just hours after having seen your family hacked to death. I can't believe I'm hearing this. If he was tested for drugs, why didn't the tranquiliser show up in his blood test???

a penny for everyone's thoughts?

do we know if the tranquiliser was before the first or second visit?

What an absolute waste of court time. I'm shouting at the top of my voice ... OISA

I'm thinking what a laid back court. One witness taking up less than an hour, to testify on Henri's scratches. It's maddening.

This is turning into a farce. What a waste of court time; not just the once but almost every day the court finishes early.

Could have been after the first visit.

He smells of alcohol he had at dinner the night before?!!
