Photos of the room being looked at.

You didn't go on your hands and knees to look for pieces? No, Brown says. She looked at the floors below the area she had looked at and the open area.

Looking at house entrance. Insinuating that gurney caused the chip analysed yesterday.

Evidence by Mr Reade-Jahn saying he remembered a black axe.

Desai asks if he thinks there was a second axe.

Combrink says he doesn't know. There was possibly more than one axe.

You dont know the condition of this axe before this incident. No, Brown says.

Do you get the feeling that Desai is having to endure this.

G and then later on when you prepared the 2nd report you were in possession of the axe which is before the court

G: you were asked to compare the axe as a possible tool that caused damage? B thats correct

G: regarding the gurney being a possible tool u mentioned anything with a sharp edge could have caused damage

Desai- is there any other evidence that there is more than one axe except James not recognising axe

C: we have two versions James doesn't recognize the axe precious says there was an axe in the home

You went to the scene to process marks and damage? Yes, Brown says.

You then gave an opinion regarding the type of damage. Yes, she says.

Desai asking about any other evidence besides Mr Reade-Jahn not recognising it.

Combrink says only Precious confrmed the axe in the house, Combrink says.

He said he didn't recognise that axe, he remembers one with a black head.

C: only if we assume that both axes were left at the scene would there be evidence of another axe

Desai says fine he wants to hear argument on that point

Adv Botha now starts his application in terms of section 212

Desai asks Galloway her views

Galloway the witness merely lists the receiving and marking of samples she received the person collecting samples and analysing

the samples have been called

Desai asks Botha- is there an issue you want to raise or is it just "krapping"

Botha she says I received exhibits now there appears to be a discrepancy on what she seems to see when she opens the exhibits

Desai - is it sufficient to subpoena on only those aspects?

Adv B-regarding the blood to she used Hema* sticks to test and she never kept these sticks so we can't verify what she is saying

Judge Desai- prepared to exercise my discretion in favor of the defense in order that W.O Nel subpoenaed to give evidence

Galloway will make arrangements to call her when we return next term

Galloway I might still need about 3 weeks

Judge Desai says he has another trial standing down at the end of August

Galloway we have 7 August till 28 August and state should be finished by 28 August

Van Breda Trial is postponed to 7 August 2017.

That's got to be the best line of the night ... no, the entire trial. :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh:

It certainly took me by surprise! I typed it straight into google translate and it translated as .... yep .... "krapping!!"

I like Desai. He comes across as very aware and very measured in his judgments. Seems he's right onto Botha's tactics, and he'll allow what he has to, but no more.

What a pain that we have to wait eight weeks for it to resume though. :sigh:

Thank you again for all the updates. Loved the krapping comment. I hope it means what I think it does as it is very apt. 80 Per cent of this trial has been nothing but cr*p. If Apples looks in, maybe she could confirm. I couldn't find a meaning for it :('

I also found it translated to "slush ping" whatever that means. But krapping is what Botha does best.

Adv Pieter Botha raised a point that Warrant Officer Nel should testify given her handling of the evidence. @IOL

Judge Desai agreed. Galloway will make arrangements for Nel to testify in court next term. Judge Desai extended Henri's bail.

 No words.

It's just too awful isn't it Prime. That he's allowed to continue enjoying his freedom, while the parents who gave him life, who loved him and did their best to give him a good life, to give him every chance to get ahead in the world, both lost their one precious life at his hands.

I have friends and family in that age group, and it's such a wonderful time for them seeing all their years of hard work and effort coming to fruition. The high school and college graduations, drivers licences, 18th and 21st parties, first jobs, moving out of home, engagements, weddings, first grandchildren - all those wonderful celebrations that Martin and Theresa are forever denied.

As for Rudi, yeah - there are no words.

He said what??

Bing translator has krapping as tightening, but I don't know why he would throw in a word in Afrikaans. Knowing Botha, krapping is probably what he meant :D

I am sorry to tell you that krap means scratch, so krapping in this context would mean scratching or digging even. Nothing to do with cr*ap, unfortunately, but I also through the cr*p comment would have been better!

Hey, JJ and Prime - thank you both so much for another session of updates and tweets. When we come back in August, I'd like to join in with contributing to the thread with tweets or whatever. I've never done it before but have a basic grasp of what's needed. Couldn't volunteer this time around owing to a rather painful condition I have right now, but very likely it will have cleared up by August.

Until then, cheers to all!
