Photo taken outside Spier gate. There is no anti-dig in this area. How easy to get in, Botha asks.

Pietersen says 20cm gap covered by rocks. Another space before electric fence starts, says. 40cm gap, he points out.

There was a porcupine problem at De Zalze during his tenure, Pietersen says.

Pietersen says 5 incidents occurred during his tenure. In one, person gained access underneath Spier gate, fiddled with camera.

In another, person cut a square from fence, about 500mm big. Didn't have camera footage, but alarm sounded.

Another incident 2 ppl spotted on camera near De Zalze fence at Techno Park. Suspects hid in vineyard when security responded.

Botha asks to add document to evidence. Desai asks Galloway what she thinks. "My Lord, I don't see the relevance."

Photos seems to pick up two people from Camera 19 on thermal cam on TechnoPark side. Unknown suspect ran 80 metres into vineyard.

Video clip from May 2013 being played. Shows footage of man supposedly armed with panga.

Pietersen says 3 people spotted, but video showed only 1. Spotted outside De Zalze and when security responded he escaped.

Pietersen says he could see panga in the man's hand. Judge Desai says he can't see it. Pietersen recorded it on phone from screen.

Pic shown of two guards sleeping in a security hut at De Zalze

Another photo showing contractor's gate. One could possibly get over it, Pietersen says.

Adv Galloway cross-examining. De Zalze seen as relatively expensive and upmarket estate? Pietersen agrees.

A brief video of security footage is shown to court of an previous intruder in the Estate, reportedly wielding a panga.

Adv Galloway begins her cross-examination, diving into the "estate living" aspect of De Zalze Estate with Pietersen

After a long pause, video played eventually with some sound. It's cell phone footage taken by Pietersen. Desai: From when?

Pieterse: 31st May, 2013. After some more narrative... Desai: Was this inside or outside the estate? Pietersen: Outside.

Botha notes the PANGA in the video. See, there's a guy walking around with an axe-like object.

Whenever Botha feels he has completed a point he seems to make a large-ish, elaborate tick on his notes. Point done. Another done.

Desai can be heard commenting "there's no one in the [public] gallery."

Galloway crossing.

Galloway: You're not supposed to keep this sort of evidence on your computer this long after leaving your employ. Botha jumps up.

When you were appointed, did you sign a confidentiality agreement? Signed something but doesn't have a copy, Pietersen says.

Sees this as exceptional circumstances. Galloway asks why he has footage.Pietersen says deleted original footage.Had bits, pieces.

Why did you leave De Zalze? Post was privatised, Pietersen says. He also applied. When he left security wasn't up to standard.

Why did you stop working at DeZalze? Pietersen: It was privatised. Galloway: Did you apply to work [for the privatised security].

Galloway asks when last he had access. On his last working day, he says. When he took photos in May, he went to greet ex-colleagues.

Galloway says witnesses who testified say they felt safe at De Zalze. Pietersen says perhaps previous incidents not communicated.

190 incidents reported since 2003 at De Zalze. Since Febraury 2014 when Marcia Rossouw was appointed, only 10 registered.

https://twitter.com/HiRezLife

Galloway asks Pietersen what he makes of 2 other witnesses saying they felt safe in the estate.

Quite funny, ex-security guy basically there to convince everyone how unsafe the security was, when it was his job to make it safe

On top of that, the ex-security guy doesn't get access to estate to do his expert check. Didn't try or wasn't allowed?

Galloway says there is security footage of Pietersen filming and photographing outside estate. Find that height of irony.

Rossouw said fence was upgraded during her tenure. Pietersen says he did this project with her - survey, motivation, quotations.

Pietersen: An electric fence without electricity is like a Ferrari without wheels. Not sure if that's true. It's still a fence.

Surprise, surprise, after Pietersen left, security at De Zalze was upgraded.

In prior incident, prints outside gap in fence and when it was discovered indicate person could have been on premises for 2 hours.

(But nothing from that night. I agree with Galloway, this is not helpful or relevant to these murders)

What a waste of time. What is the point of him testifying if the system has been upgraded. Scraping the barrel methinks.

It is scraping the barrel IB! Desai is letting the defence get away with having irrelevant witnesses, he's definitely trying to keep them happy.
It's like having a history lesson about the fence and security of days gone by but nothing even close to the date of the murders, and might I add, the security and alarms were upgraded after this Pieterson worked there! Is this normal in other countries or OISA?!
