Court packed with media. Gallery also…

Pieter Botha just arrived.

Botha and Galloway chatting discreetly in the corner. Galloway approached our bench and shook a few of the journo's hands.

Took a bet that Henri would have shaved today, after arriving back from airport. So many appearance changes. I was wrong.

Desai not going to read entire judgement - just a summary. Henri stares straight ahead. Blinks slowsly as judge reviews the events.

Galloway arms folded, stares into middle distance. Clickety click of keyboards as the judge reviews the narrative. #VanBreda's gf also here.

Henri thumbs nose briefy as Desai mentions the "calm" call to EMS.

Glass of water in from of Judge Desai's assessor. It's half empty. Or half full. Desai reviewing possible breach of #DeDalze security.

Adv Botha + colleague taking notes. Galloway has chin on hand. Whispers to colleague who is also taking notes. #VanBreda An appeal on cards?

Desai now reviewing functionality and integrity of defence. I mean - the fence.

It doesn't sound like Desai is buying the intruder narrative.

Desai highlights the concession made from defence council that #VanBreda family had no enemies. I remember him noting that too during trial.

"Highly unlikely security was breached..." Why would random attackers attack 1 family in such a targetted manner?

My impression is he is pooh-poohing the defence case.

The accused did an internet search instead of calling EMS. Desai refers to accused being "inappropriately calm..."

If it's going to be guilty I can't believe they have let a mass-murderer swan around out on bail for months.

Desai seems depressed :(

 • #331
Is it wishful thinking or does it seem like HvB's going down?

Desai "conduct of the accused after the murders is inexplicable"

 • #335
not comforting his family - "instead he smoked 3 cigarettes"

 • #336
It's going to be an awful twist if he finds him not guilty after all his pointers of guilt

Desai seems depressed :(

Poor man. Just a month ago all would have been well in his world in the sense of having his wife to come home to and talk about his day. And now whatever other family he has, in that sense he's all alone in the world.

Mr F comes home at night to a cup of tea and an apple, cut up. It's our little normal, and it's precious. Martin and Theresa had theirs too ... :(

Opt'Hof was an excellent witness. Excellent.

At 50 minutes into Desai's summary, Henri glances down. Then back up. #VanBreda "The conduct of the accused is inexplicable..."

Henri looks down again. Seems to be taking notes. Looks up again. "Why didn't he warn his mother after attack on father?"
