South Carolina, Larry & Sandra Moore, couple in their 70's, found dead, 15 January 2026

The couple's son-in-law Kevin jones described the situation as a 'nightmare.'

'Please pray for my wife and her sister. As you can imagine, our whole family is devastated. Why anyone would hurt these two precious people is beyond imagination.

'My mother-in-law and father-in-law were the most precious people God ever created. Absolutely heartbroken.'

Sounds like they had two daughters. Then DM puts this in the article.

The couple shared at least one daughter, writer of the article must not pay attention.

Oh my gosh. They look so incredibly sweet. This is breaking my heart.

Hmm with their elderly ages and the mention of “Oconee” immediately Russell and Shirley Dermond came to mind… looks like Oconee County SC is roughly a 2 and a half hour drive (125 miles) from Lake Oconee in Putnam County GA where the Dermonds lived. Probably no connection of course but it’s always too tempting to make potential connections when there is a similar unsolved crime near (ish) by 🤷🏻‍♀️ I will say I never really take authorities at face value anymore when they say there is no threat to the public, I don’t think that statement alone indicates they have an idea who did this. We’ll see. RIP to poor Sandra and Larry 😟 (“traumatic injuries” ugh 😞)
Sounds like they were beaten to death ?
Honestly this is so enraging.
Everything I've read about this elderly couple seems to indicate they helped others and were kind people.
Just awful, horrible, no other words really.

Rest in gentle peace, Larry and Sandra !!!
Hope they can nab the murderer soon !!
Imo.

I can't help but to think of a case in nearby Gville county where an elderly couple had hired a contractor for a home improvement job and there were complaints so he murdered both of them before killing himself.

Is this the case you were talking about?
I remember it too.
Just shows how easy it is to come in contact with disreputable folks.
Concerning the Westminster case, I’m starting to think LE doesn’t have a suspect in mind. If they had I think there would have been an arrest by now.

Just recently it took LE 10 days to arrest Monique Tepe’s ex husband after he killed her and her new husband, and they seem to have had a lot of surveillance footage evidence early on. I’m sure LE has a lot of connections to wade through, the Moores were clearly very well known in the community between church, their restaurant (which I’ve read they owned for many decades) etc.
I’ll give it up to a couple weeks maybe but if there’s nothing by then I’ll probably agree with you.

That's it tho I forgot to list Simpsonville. We see so much that we never know what to expect here.

I'd heard from employees of a few local businesses that officers came to see who'd used the cards of the deceased and ATM footage was taken from the uses

They were local legends. They used to run a restaurant "Moore & Moore's Fish Camp" it put a lot of young women through college until its closure

So they owned the Moore and Moore Fish camp, a restaurant. And they were pretty active in their community. Maybe the perp thought they were gossiping about them, and felt enraged by the supposed gossip combined with their social status, and decided to hurt them and steal some property while they're at it? I dunno, just my thoughts.
